Barber Linden EQ • New small form factor

I’m just pissed off it took me so long to find it!
There's a shop in town that seems to carry these at a competitive price, but I have to admit... the idea of being able to customize one is really tempting. Hrm!

Funny story! This happened right before I pulled this thread back up: Turns out my local dealer has one of those websites that gets updated once every 9 years or so. It says there's pedals, but the guy on the phone says no pedals. Welp.
So I emailed on the site to check for availability & register my curiosity about customization options.
THEN I read the above.
THEN I went to the Barber website and sent them $ via Paypal. And emailed again saying I'll take one of they got any. We shall see.
Update: We do indeed see! Looks like I'm joinin' the club! And I just got paid for laying a studio track last week, and that $ was going to the "spending money" budget. So I'm paying about $10 net.

Some little box with IC's is going to improve the tone of my tube pre-amp?
And all you guys whose opinions I've always trusted must have really jumped the shark on this one.
Adds clarity, definition, make whatever bass and amp you have sound better; really.
Does it do the dishes too....
(and yes I just made my kids get me one for father's day)

I've got one arriving today! Psyched up.
I've had my eye on the Ictineo myself, but as a result, I've seen the price literally rise steadily on reverb. From around $200 USD not long ago to $215, small change but indicative. Anyone shopping might wanna make that move soon.
Since I'm trying a combo of Particle Accelerator & Linden EQ on my "actually play bass here" board, it was superfluous, but I still want an Ictineo. One day!

The Linden into an Edison sounds pretty darn good. I also have the Particle Accelerator. I’m trying to decide between the two but I’m having a difficult time... I’m also considering the Ictineo into the Edison. There are too many choices...

I have been switching between 3 basses all while using the Linden. A Fender Pro P-5, Warwick Double-Buck($$) 5 and a Custom Shop Mayones Slogan MBC5. Each bass sounds better! Just a little tighter and punchier for lack of a better term. Maybe "More Focused" would be a better description?

The Ictineo might let you down. The Linden is real good.
Mine arrived today and first impressions: hubba hubba
I've just run my P with GHS Precision flats & Novak PB-V pickup thru it since that's one of the main basses I'll be using this pedalboard with live. Borrowing someone's suggested settings of both switches left, treble 9 o'clock, bass 3 o'clock, I kicked off with instant low-end aggression and domination. Muahaha!!!
Then, I scaled both knobs back just a bit and flicked the Input Toggle switch over to the middle setting (I may need to label these switches so I don't have to have the user manual out the whole time) ... and this might be approaching tonal nirvana for the flats-equipped 1960 Precision. The Novak pickup has fantastic mids clarity, so there's a lot for the Linden to work with. Fascinatingly, the Linden's treble control also grabs high frequencies I didn't even know were coming out of this bass and can really crank them.
Surprising tone results from something I've never tried before: boosting the treble circuit while the bass's tone knob is rolled much of the way down. May not be audible in a mix and may even have been a figment of my flabbergasted imagination, but it seemed to put a bit of "sparkle" into an otherwise cavernously deep rumble.
Edit: using the bass knob to CUT low end makes this a potentially useful practice tool. For one, reducing rumble makes neighbors happy, and for two, hearing more of the content that reveals any technical problems is inarguably valuable. And cutting it all the way to 0/minimum, with the Input Toggle switch set to the right side, is so drastic yet still so musical that it sounds like a cool special effect. And sure, that can be done with most EQ pedals as a matter of principle, but Idunno how many would sound this good, esp with two control knobs.

Have had limited time with the Linden and I like it.
Right now I'm in tone nirvana with G&J JB bass into Ampeg SVT-IIP pre-amp; 800 watts of digital power (GK MBF800 effects return) into a GB 2x12 NeoX. Love my tone and not looking for improvements.
Years ago, TC Electronics made a box they called the Finalizer.
The idea was a box with some preset mastering magic. It actually sounded pretty good and while you knew it had a multi band compressor, it also would alter EQ as well as the "voicing" for a recording. I used it on two songs that I played bass on and produced, but did not engineer and it seemed like it would analyze the wave form and (in this case) pull some low mids to clean up the track.

"The multi-band processor will make your mix sound punchier and crispier, allowing you to easily turn your demo tapes into mastered recordings". Whatever that means.
This is one feature of the Linden I've found.
It's doing something to the mid range and native voicing that is pretty cool.
So far, my optimal EQ is still without the Linden, but with the flick of switch, turning it on can change the voice of a bass in a big way. Not that I couldn't get it with EQ and a compressor, but having a preset that offers so many different and powerful voices seems like a great tool for certain songs. Also not EQ setting that I would normally think to use or gang together.
I think there is a whole lot going on in this box and wish Barber gave us more details on the architecture.
Can't wait to spend more time with it!
