Bergantino B/Amp at NAMM

Nah, the ohm setting is in one of the menus right on the amp itself. The only thing I've used the USB port for is to upload new software or new cabinet profiles. That info goes on a little thumb drive, and you just plug that drive into the front of the amp.

Hi - No, you do not need to use a computer to operate any of the functions of the B|Amp. You would only use a computer to download a new speaker profile or a software update. To change the impedance, you depress the program button on the amplifier and scroll until you see the impedance screen and select '4/8', '2.67' (if using a 4-Ohm & 8-Ohm combintaion) or '2'. Also, go to our website to download the preliminary owner's manual. This should answer a lot of the questions on this thread. You can find this manual at "Invalid Link Removed" just after the specs.

You do not have to hook it up to your computer, you just run through the program settings and change it on the amp itself... Very easy to do....

Interesting question - to which I don't know the answer. The profiles are presumably set to adjust the inherent tonal characteristics of the B|Amp's preamp to the the various cabinets. By using a different preamp that (also presumably) has its own tonal characteristics, it seems to me that the profiles would not give the same result. If the profiles are applied in front of the effects return, then I suppose the presets would have no effect at all. That's just a guess, though. I'll see if I can get an answer from Jim.

I carefully read Jim's blog page on "Why the B|Amp?" a few times...and the section below (quoted from the blog) got me thinking it might be possible, in that the cab profiles focus on "cleaning up(?)" specific cabinet nuances, to which we then apply traditional eq:

"That's what the Profile concept and system is all about. We're EQ'ing the response of your speaker for you, with very precise filters, unique to each model, based on actual, real world acoustical measurements. So now you can focus on EQ'ing your tone, and not your speaker."

[EDiT: The logical question then...are the cab profiles applied before, or after, the effects return...in the signal chain?]

Btw, I'm confident just using the B|Amp (alone) will be completely outstanding...just thinking that a tube pre (in front of a precisely tuned NV610T cab) might provide a nice vintage tone alternative...

I couldn't find this in the manual, can the USB port on the Blamp be used to charge a phone?

Hi. I have checked out the website and read the manual, but can´t find any speaker profiles for the AE 210. I have 2 AE 210.
Have scrolled through the downloadable speaker profiles on the website and there is even a profile for my older HS 410, but no AE 210.
Is this true or are the AE profile already in the amp..?

Jim plans to do profiles for the AE series. I don't know whether they'll be in the first batch. They will be uploadable when they become available.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I just got done reading through this entire thread after getting an e-mail from Bergantino featuring Jim's blog "Why the B|Amp?". I've heard about the B|Amp for awhile but now after reading through this thread and Jim's blog, I must have one. I only use Berg cabs (HD410, NV610, NV215) and can only imagine what this amp will sound like with the cabinet profiling feature (I hope they do a profile for the NV215 as it is a discontinued cab)!

Any word on official release date yet?

I had a problem with my Berggy IP112er and emailed bergantino. I was sure nice that Jim said " give me a call" I had a great conversation with him and he was able to trouble shoot my amps problem. After doing his recommended fix the problem was solved. It was a a HP filter issue on the amp. Problem solved. We talked about the B/amp, since I really dig my ip set up I had a lot of questions. He said the IP is essentially the first inversion of the B/Amp. The dsp program was made for the 1x12 cabinet profile. After having my IP Set-up is hard to move to anything else. No I know why. Was thinking about moving to the B/Amp but my set up has been working great its hard to move away.
