Anybody have an idea if/when we'll get a 6 string option on the Combustion and/or NG-2 models? I've heard rumors about it.
Likely, but they're releasing the 4-string Combustions first.
The 4 should be here in (hopefully early) 2016, and my money's on 2017 for 6-string versions
That sounds reasonable.
We'll see if I can wait that long without ordering a 6 string Afterburner
Here is a pic of my NBD! Dingwall NG-2 in black. I waited exactly one week to get it, due to a quick phone call by Jameel at Long and McQuade to Sheldon in Saskatoon. Someone had cancelled so I lucked out. What a neat bass.
Well, I went ahead and bought that older blue Combustion from the classifieds here. Now I'll have one of the one and one of the old. My thought is either be F#/B/E/A/D, or F/C/G/D/A tuned... though, to start, it'll probably just be kept in drop-A to serve as a backup for my V4 Combustion.
Does anyone here own an F115? I've been using a TH500 with two GS112s but I've got an F115 on the way and I think the TH500 is going to under power it. I'd like to keep the small light weight set up. Streamliner 900? Epifani piccolo? What do you suggest?
What volumes do you play @? I use a AG500 into a single GS112 for smaller shows (only letting me use 250W of the available 500W). For larger shows I use a Fearless 212 go have the full 500W on tap. But with that rig I can drown out everything on stage and fill 500+ person clubs with ease. I think you should wait until you get the F115 and see what you think. I would have stopped with a 112 had I known then what I know now....Greenboy cabs handle a lot of power, but you don't likely need more power unless you are playing large venues or very loud shows. You may be pleasantly surprised what your TH and F115 will give you...
The F115 is 8ohm so i'd only be putting 250 watts into it, and the driver specs for the kappalite 3015 LF says it wants 450RMS. Right now I use the TH500 into the 2 112s and turn it up pretty good at some shows. I just want to match power as clean as possible to make sure I'm getting the best performance from the fEARLess possible.

You'll be losing a little less than 3DB with that setup, so it won't be the end of the world...
If you want effortless headroom, I'd be looking at the new Mesa Subway D800, the G-K MB800, or the MB Fusion 800. All pretty affordable for that sort of output.
The Mesa is particularly interesting, because 2 ohm capability and an international power supply make it the perfect Swiss Army knife- use it with any cab, anywhere...

No worries there. I've driven a 4 ohm custom 12 inch Kappalite to the point that my little MB200 was about to cough up a lung, with no problems at either end.
The TH500/F115 combo should be pretty bulletproof.
Last night was my first gig with my one-day old Dingwall NG-2 bass. I was switching between this and my trusty NS-CR4M electric upright on a gig accompanying award-winning authors as they read from their books. (Our first author, Marlon James, just won the Invalid Link Removed). Playing the Dingwall took exactly zero adjustment time. The other musicians commented on the clarity of the B string notes, and though it's bright, I found it versatile enough to cover the varying sounds I needed. Bass honeymoon starting on the right foot!

I've had some gigs backing writers and poets, but most of it was in Cantonese so I followed the tone of voice and other musicians more as improvising off of what was said was impossible – I don't speak Cantonese. Still very rewarding.
I can't think of anything better than making music or writing; wish to H E double hockey sticks I could've been there to listen to your Dingwall's gig-cherry bursting and the writers giving voice to their creations. You've made me quite homesick!
