Yes, it looks trashy. But so what. In my younger days I spent time with some trashy looking women and I've gotta tell you I enjoyed it quite a bit. To each his own.

Stickers are worth 5% more horsepower if you put them on your car, and they are worth 5% more tone if you put them on your bass.
Just my opinion but if I'm making an investment on a Bass, I'm not going to put stickers all over it like it's a toy.
I would probably never put stickers on my own bass, because it wouldn't fit my personality or stage persona. But I think they can look really cool on the right instrument with the right player. A Fender style bass in the hands of a punk or hard rock player? Sure, throw some stickers on there!
It depends. Me personally, I would never. I think it makes people look like fake punkers. Basses to me are not toys to adorn in childish stickers, but instruments. How many saxophones or violas have you seen adorned with stickers? None, because they are somehow more respectable

I have two basses i put stickers on when i was young. One is a small sticker of a pub that was my second home through my youth where i played lots of gigs and even worked the bar for a bit. That sits on the headstock of my trusty ol' Carvin. It reminds me of the good old times and i can't bring myself to tear it off.
My vintage fretless P (Ibanez Silver Series) came into my herd looking pretty beaten up with the pickguard removed and lots of dents and scratches. That one is literally covered in stickers and i have the plan to get that thing back to original with the ashtrays and stuff, and removing the stickers in the process.

Depends on the bass. As someone who was inspired by Matt Freeman, Paul Simonon, Family Man Barrett and a number of other sticker users, I do like the aesthetic. Usually I find it looks best on a well-used Precision, I removed a sticker from a Warwick that I bought used because I didn't think that it *worked* on that bass. That said, it's your bass and while it might affect the resale value the same is true for any other type of modification to the finish (or the hardware, or the electronics, or anything else for that matter). Does it look trashy? Maybe, but sometimes that's exactly the look you're going for, no?
I don't have stickers on any of mine-or on anything else; just not a sticker kind of guy. However, IMO, they are the kind of thing where too much can be just right; like Flea's Modulus. One can look good; like the Vader bass. A couple can look OK. after that, until you reach the "too many" threshold, most of the ones I've seen are "Eewww - get a grip, Dude". So my answer is, it all depends..

I put stickers from the maker of the product if i like it. FOR indtance Gamma bass stickers on my bass,Rancho and TopR stickers on my 4x4 its all about what you think not anybody else in my opinion...
