Ever seen a dead Jaguar?

Finally called MF.

Mine will be here tomorrow.

lets play a game .

a bass goes kansas to texas and ends up like well the above.

Same style bass even in the same color shipped the same day by probably the same crew goes from kansas to oregon.

How many pieces will mine be?

now over 24 hours of thinking about it.

I am dreading this very thing, since I've got the trade already :p

Yours will have to go Kansas-Oregon-Texas! Just imagine the number of pieces it could be in by then!

I hope (for the sake of our trade) that it arrives in good condition.

Yeah, I agree with what's already been said. Don't settle for a new neck. Get on the phone with MF and get a new bass from them. And give UPS hell too. I sold a Peavey bass amp on ebay, shipped it UPS and packed it very well. Or so I thought. Arrived damaged at the buyers appartment. I had to refund him and get it shipped back. When I got it back it looked like it had rolled down a flight of stairs.

MF just called back, gave me these options:

1) Return bass (on their dime) for a full refund.
2) Contact Fender and get a new neck through the lifetime warranty replacement policy.

Why in the world would they give you option #2? Fender's warranty is for manufacturing defects. They should not be responsible for UPS's problem.

I'd return it to MF right away for a full refund. If you try to pursue option #2, your return period with MF could go by and then they'll tell you you waited too long to return the bass.

Sorry about your Jaguar. It really hurts to look at those pictures.

I have one that should be arriving tomorrow from MF. But, now I'm getting worried! I'm looking at the UPS tracking online. So far it's been to LENEXA, WICHITA, OKLAHOMA CITY, FORT WORTH, and SAN ANTONIO. It still has to get to Houston which I'm assuming will be two stops to get to my house. 7 opportunities to get toss, kicked, and run over! :(

I'll be returning by Friday at the latest...just waiting to see what they tell me tomorrow. He said I have 45 days, but I sure am not going to wait that long.

It came from the manufacturer['s authorized representative] and was delivered to you in a defective condition, so the warranty should cover it, but I have found warranty replacement to be a slower process.

NO..THE WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER SHIPPING DAMAGE.

Fender's warranty says they warrant it "to be free from defects in materials and manufacturing..."

They are not going to -- nor should they -- cover damage caused by a shipper.

Jim

I can't believe the driver didn't need a signature for a shipment of that value. He must have looked at the box and bolted. You took great pictures and while it'll take awhile and its a hassle... You should recoup your dough.

Maybe its a sign, you should be playing something else.

Use MF's return policy, that what its there for.

One thing, be nice and patient, to everybody, tear up and cry a bit if you have to, but you catch more flies with honey...

Good Luck.

I try not to think about this stuff when I ship stuff at the ups store. I just put a cab on a greyhound to Oakland. How's that for scary? Think it'll get there in one piece?

WOW!!! I think I just got sick. I feel so sorry for you I love jaguars. I currently looking into a bass pretty soon here on TB but I am so concerned about shipped and now after seeing this I am extremely nervous. What pisses me off is that I am sure that UPS gets so many complaints and what is done SQUAT!!! I would love to see a package arrived to an employee who works for UPS come as f**ked up as that, maybe only then they will realize they suck. Why would they even consider giving you option two? I would just return it to them, get your money back and if possible go buy the bass in person(unless you were buying it used on TB) I hope everything gets straightened out for you very soon!

Oh man! Just seeing this thread - crazy!! Sorry to hear/see that. Hopefully they can sort it out for you. Maybe they'll refund your $$ and let you keep the bass parts? The white body and tort pickguard are probably salvageable. I wonder what they do with that stuff after you return it??? (blem? :D )

Good luck!

Not an option...no money til I return it. Understandable on their part, but a hassle for me.

Actually this IS an option.

If you deal directly with USPS- tell them that MF no longer has any in stock and that you need to get it sent to Fender to get it fixed as it is rare (California .... or if you want to be a purist about it.... Japan). They will give you a cheque for the amount that the bass is insured for- as the sale price will be less than the total cost of repairs and shipping. One thing to remember is that USPS do not pay anything for this- their insurance company does. ;)

This happened to me last year. I had an Aguilar speaker USPSed to Australia and it was dropped in transit. I went for gold and told them I would need to get it replaced with an Aguilar cone shipped from New York then installed locally. I sent them research in costings and local prices- a new speaker was the cheapest option for them. 1 week later I get a cheque for price of the Aggy. I also get a call from the speaker repair guy telling me that it wasn't as bad as he originally thought. :ninja:
