Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800

ZOMG! How did I miss a firmware update?!

Version 3.0.41 (Nov 15th, 2021)
  • Increased sensitivity of the Master Volume control
  • Fixed issue with Tuner being improperly engaged with the GTX-7 footswitch
  • Expression pedal and footswitch reliability
Excitement! Thrills! Or maybe, you know, not. You'll never know until you try!

o_O Hmmm, I wonder if someone at 7ender has been eavesdropping here?!? :wideyed:

:woot: And then, I wonder if Invalid Link Removed helps any of the recently reported footswitch problems?

Wow! I haven't heard of this before, Cowboy! So, is your concise Public Service Announcement that "certain older wifi routers may have problems transmitting the Rumble firmware update"? Or is there any more info to it, at this time? Sounds like one reasonable conclusion from your description. Did any of the techs you talked to tell you this, like they had run into this before? If so, which tech, Fender, Sweetwater, AT&T, Spectrum, ...?

Any other specifics you can share? Like, is there any significant internet speed difference between your wifi and your brother's, in case that has any bearing? Did you try the the Tone App Support section instead of just the Standard Firmware Update? (Although I would think that'd be the first thing Fender Support would have you try.) Do you plan to test with the new router? If so, do you have an ETA when that will be?

Please excuse the "third degree". If you don't mind, I'd like to include your PSA in the Tone App Support section of the Rumble Club Wiki page, but would like to make it as complete as possible. Thanks for sharing.

I'm gonna dig up a post from March to confirm that it was my 10 year old router causing all my firmware update issues. I'm actually on my third router this year as AT&T sent me a new old stock router back in March that began having issues that was only capable of 2.4 GHz along with a "free" WiFi extender that was not even compatible. After a month of complaining I finally got them to send me a new gateway capable of both 2.4 GHz and 5Ghz that worked with the extender. I was gun shy to test until a new firmware update was out. I just updated the firmware without issue. I have pretty slow internet speeds (12-14 mbps) and it worked. I originally updated at my brother's and he has 100 mbps. Unfortunately that means a perfectly good amp got sent back to Sweetwater because of this issue. To answer some of your questions I tried every type of update multiple times and several phone calls to Fender Tech support. Fender was who told me to send the amp back without ever asking about the router being a possible issue. The Sweetwater tech was clueless and wanted me to do stuff I had already done multiple times. If there are any other questions, just let me know.

OK...I finally finished reading the whole thread and it looks like I'll be getting a Studio 40 with my Christmas bonus. I've been playing guitar for more than 50 years and decided to pick up bass two years ago. I'm a pastor of a small church (sanctuary seats 34) and had been leading all the worship but someone else has stepped up to do that (also playing an acoustic guitar) so that's why I decided to pick up the bass. Most of the time it is just me and her but we have an extremely talented young lady who joins us occasionally on EG. On rare occasions we have Congo's or a cajon. I've been using a Frankenstein set up of bass patches on my Roland VG-88 played through my traveling PA/amp and a 60's stereo cabinet with 15. That cab is dying and so I guess the proof-of-concept phase is over. I like the idea of modeling and don't think I'll need anything more than the 40, plus I'm in the house for video recording. So anyways that's my story. Now I just need to wait but as Tom said. "the waiting is hardest part".

I finally had some time blocked out this evening to do my firmware update, 'cause it always takes me longer for this kinda stuff. And, ... BINGO! It updates on the very first try! Easiest ever for me!!
Rumble On!

Well! Someone's gonna have themselves a merry not-so-little Christmas!! Congratulations, socko. :D I bet you can get that to sound like an overdriven R500c. :roflmao:

I don’t suppose you've had a chance to see if the new firmware update has improved your footswitch functionality on the Studio, have you? If not, then I wouldn't expect you to find much time for the Studio for quite a while yet.

Studio and Stage are in separate houses and one is Mo-Th, other Fr-Su
None is jealous about other : )

I could not get overdriven R500 sound from S800, but Amplug Classic Rock does this job. Very trebly, very "glassy".

And - in this part of world St. Claus brings gifts on twice: on Dec 6th and Dec 24th ;)

We also celebrate St. Nickalaus on December 7th at the Dog-house! Just small "warning" gifts, for those who need to straighten up a bit before the Big Day.

Sinter Klaus?

Actually, since Mrs. Dog lived in Germany in, ... <ahem>, ... "another life", we celebrate Niklolaustag, or Saint Nickalaus Day. And, although it is observed on December 6th in Germany, and their preparation is done on the evening of December 5th, we have Americanized it in the Dog-household to December 7th, with preparation on the evening of December 6th. Saint Nickalaus Day begins with a remembrance and prayers for Pearl Harbor Day before small gifts for being good, or switches as a warning for the naughty, are presented.

The first Saint Nickalaus Day in the Dog-household, with our new blended family including 5 young children, Mrs. Dog added a few small switches to my very small good gift! I was the only one to get any switches, to the kids' delight. I played along and admitted that maybe I had been a little hard on the kids' discipline, to which they agreed. I was always "bad cop" to Mrs. Dog's "good cop." Later, with 5 teenagers in the house, a single small switch with a small good gift would remind someone, or two, of a (usually academic) improvement need. It is now a fond memory of our grown kids that they mostly find too inconvenient to carry on with their kids. Even though none of them have more than just 2 kids to raise! :woot:

Just a quick question guys - on my Stage 800 is it possible to use both the XLR sockets at the same time, both for use as DI out’s?

What I want to do is to send one signal to the mixing desk and the other to my IEM mix (rather than use the bass signal from a personal Monitor mix).

Is this the best method or could I use the Send socket to my IEM mix instead (if that would work) as I presume this would also be a Post preamp output?

Yes! Yes, you can, Bake. You can use both XLR Line Out connections in the default mono mode, where one gives a Pre-EQ signal and the other give a Post-EQ signal, or change them to Stereo right&left Post-EQ mode.

"Best" is whatever works for you. Personally, I wish we could set both mono XLR Line Outs to Post-EQ signals 'cause I don't have any use for a Pre-EQ signal. Why buy such an awesome modeling amp only to bypass all its features to the soundboard?!?

Unless you're willing to send a neutered Pre-EQ signal to the mixing desk, as the soundman may want, you'll have to use the left (mono) FX Send to one of the destinations and the Post-EQ XLR Line Out to the other.

Or, perhaps 'best', is to connect both of the two (stereo) FX Sends to whichever destination can best use the stereo separated signals! For recording connect those stereo signals to the mixing board in separate channels. For live performance connect the stereo signals to your IEMs, one to each ear! :D That's assuming that the live soundman wouldn't actually pan the two signals for good stereo separation.

That's my perspective.

Thanks G-Dog. I will change the XLR’s in the settings to Stereo out’s so that I will get 2 x Post EQ outs as you suggest, although I will also see if just a signal from one of the Send sockets will work. I only use the Stage 800 in mono so it shouldn’t be a problem.

The band currently uses wireless IEM’s (in stereo), I’m getting the bass signal back from the desk which isn’t too bad, but I know from experience that I can get a better bass tone/sound from my wired LD HPA 1 headphone amp. The LD has Left and Right XLR inputs plus an 1/8” Aux-in socket, I’m hoping that I can use a signal from my Stage 800 to go into the Aux in on my headphone amp and turn off the bass signal from the desk (we use a Behringer X32 and do our own IEM mix on our IPads & IPhones via Wi-Fi).

Will see if I can rig something up in the house to make sure it works!

Finally got around to taking a photo of my Stage 800 so that I can officially join the Club!

Also, here is a photo of the amp with its Roqsolid cover. I can’t recommend these covers highly enough. I’ve used them for some years now, they really are very well made covers, very hard wearing and give great protection by the nature of the materials used and the internal padding. As can be seen from the 1st photo the cover is strong enough to stand up on its own!
