They offer them because they sell. If you don't like them, fine, buy a different color. But G&L clearly disgarees with you, and apparently in an even bigger way when it comes to other finishes.

And that's fine, they manage their business the way they want. I chose Alpine White for my LB-100, which is one of three whites :D mind you!

I just can't stand sunburst (or tortoise for that matter) hence why I thought it was overkill. But I agree you must have options for every taste!

I am not the biggest fan of the traditional 3-color sunburst, but they do have the 2-color which I like very much. If Cherryburst is also considered part of that group, I like that too.

I also like the premier bursts as well. (My next bass may be a JB in redburst. Maybe red metal flake. I have not decided yet.)

Sure! There are several I like and some not as much. As was said earlier, to each their own.

Redburst with a matching headstock, with a rosewood fingerboard would be sweet.

The only downside to G&L's huge selection of great finishes is the difficulty in deciding which one to get! I've ordered four G&L instruments, two basses and two guitars, each one with a different finish, and they all look fantastic. These were an L-1500 in Electric Blue (discontinued, both bass and finish), JB in Midnight Blue Metallic, Comanche in Sonic Blue, and Legacy HSS in Metallic Silver (brand new, and totally sweet).

I've also bought three off the rack, which eliminates all the hemming and hawing about picking a finish. One of these was my M-2500 in what is probably my favorite finish overall, Ruby Red Metallic. Another was my SB-2 in Vintage White, which is my least favorite finish of those I've owned. But it still looks great.

I'm not a fan of burst finishes generally, the only one I'm drawn to is cherry burst (I do own a brownish burst but it is a violin bass so I'll let it off!)

But if everyone was like me the world would be a pretty boring place so hats off to G&L for offering lots of finish options, hopefully something to please everyone.

Hmm, seems there's more love here for the cherry burst than some of the more vintage bursts. I do love a good vintage style burst (and have a few), but I LOVE my cherry burst L-2500. :) The matching headstock only makes it look better in my eyes, though I get that not everyone likes those. I should take some new pictures, I replaced the black knobs with chrome and think it looks much better.

I can appreciate a metallic or a sparkle finish, but would likely never buy one for myself, though I admit that the G&L and Musicman sparkles/metallics are pretty well done. That being said, the G&L metal flake finishes are so far beyond what I would buy that they circle back around and end up back on the side of "Yeah, I could see myself with one of those!". 'Specially the silver one! :drool:
