Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

It isn’t uncommon that you place an order, they bring you the soft serve, then make you wait five minutes for the hot food. I don’t want to eat a cone while waiting in line for my food. They call it “soft serve” because it isn’t ice cream, it’s gums and fluff. Not very nutritional.
Most of the places I [used to] eat at let you finish yer meal then ask if you want dessert. If a place brought me something "frozen" b4 the main, I'd send it back.

Good morning GOF's. I think I'll be working from home for a while into the future. We're lucky (I think) that the administration and assembly are keeping us working and I've been able to remote into my computer and my work phone is forwarded to my cell phone at home. I thought I'd like this but now I'm missing all the wonderful young staff I work with. I miss sitting at my desk at 7:45 eating a breakfast mac and drinking coffee while checking my email and reading the morning news.

We're watching local news closely and this morning we found out that there are now 12 cases of Covid-19 in Alaska. Only one for Southeast in Ketchikan. Kinda scary that the hooded one is circling around our town. Otherwise in fairly good spirits, Carey and I will go shopping in a bit after a trip to McD's. I hope the rest of you are doing ok.

EDIT: I pray the rest of you are doing well.

Why I’ll never eat at an IHOP. Dogs are creatures of habit. A friend’s dog used take a dump on the street every day in front of an IHOP window. Not what you’d want to see while gazing outside while eating your meal. That image sticks in my mind and will forever be associate with IHOP.
IHOP, home of one-legged wait staff.
They also had a waitress who had one leg shorter than the other. Her name was Eileen.:bag: I'll go to my room now.

Nutrition when on the road is a challenge. As if maintaining an even keel at work isn't enough? It feels like a winter ascent of the Eiger - something worth having on your curriculum vitae, but also something you don't want to be doing right now.

Nutrition is difficult. I find that getting sufficient exercise is even harder. Especially when hosts/organizers feel that the need to plan the evening and morning sessions start at 7:30 or 8AM.

There are some stores in my area that are restricting the first hour(8-9 AM)to people over 60. I don't get up that early.

*** is up with that anyway? Who knew TP would be a thing to hoard?
I have learned (last night) that the TP craziness is due to an Aussie news-media type making a joke; thereafter, all the hysteria began.

One grocery store is open at 8AM-9AM for GOF’s only to limit exposure. They are carding folks that don’t look old enough at the door.

Giant Foods, the big local chain here in the DC area, is restricting shopping to us GOFs from 6am to 7am.

I was wondering what the (minumum) age limit is for the GOF restriction is. So, is it 60 everywhere? And why so early? No way I'm getting up to shop at those insane hours!

Why I’ll never eat at an IHOP.
The "blueberries" in the pancakes are really dead house flies, or so I was told a long time ago.................... :D I was told some other things, too, regarding the food at IHOP, but those cannot be repeated, here. :woot:

AFA 'minimum' age, show yer AARP card.

Like the places that serve half a portion for 80 percent of the price of the full portion? Nobody would really do that to anyone, right?
This doesn't work if you're eating alone, but my wife and I have taken to sharing a regular entree.

That way, we still have room for desert if we want, and we don't go home feeling like we just ate a camel.

The best part, is that chefs hate to see a plate going out the door with only half a serving on it.

In a lot of places, they double up on the vegetables, etc., which makes for an even more enjoyable and economical experience.

A what? Don't have one a dem thingies. Would my URP! card work in its place? :D I guess my slightly grey, barely balding, good looking self will have to convince them (and my driver's licence). ;)

As to kiddie portions at restaurants, we actually order more (full size) dishes than we can eat while sitting there so that we can have leftovers for during the week.

Our daughter gave birth to our third grandchild today @ 17:45 ET. It’s our first grandson. The granddaughters are staying with us tonight.

Congratulations!!

I always though we would make good grandparents. Sadly for us that'll never happen :(

Our four brothers were all supposed to come for a week in June. We've just found out that they will no longer be coming. Dorothy is terribly upset and weeping. It tears me apart when she weeps 'cos I feel so damn helpless! :(

Grandparents fulfill many roles. I think that one of the best gifts they can offer is life advice. Kids often don’t want to know. I made a lot of mistakes in life that could have been avoided with some sage guidance.

I think such advice is better received from a grandparent versus the parents. More apt to be given weight and sink in.

Congratulations, @12BitSlab!

My grandmother was a bluestocking. Meant in a kind way but I do freely take in with the crowd what hangs at the neighborhood lemonade stands. Any advice she may have directed at me about the dangers of good times were happily ignored  That's grandkids :D

We have to stay home unless it's for food or essential services.
The directives I read say that outdoor activities are okay as long as proper social distancing is observed. That means if you encounter other groups, you stay 6 feet away from them. So you can still take a bike ride or a walk.

My husband has been in the parks for the past three days (not continuously, LOL) and there are families out doing nature walks, etc.
