I hate looking at my #1

It looks like a standard burst to me, not much different than the 64 jazz AV I have. Whats crappy about it and can you provide an example of a non-crappy burst?

Edit: ok...thats kind of orangish looking
The problem is that the burst isn’t properly feathered. A good burst has an even transition between the colours. In this burst, the transitions are too abrupt, so that you get bands of colour.

A good burst:

A bad burst:

My favorite feeling, sounding, playing bass is the one thing that makes my stomach turn.....sunburst. I've had it for 12 years. Gigged it everywhere. I keep one bass in my living room to just noodle around on when watching TV or if I have 5 minutes waiting for my wife or whatever it maybe. It's the only one I own that makes me cringe when I walk by. I'm probably not gonna do anything about it. I'm afraid to change bodies or even have it refinned because I love the sound that much. I just wanted to complain

so quit looking at it. buy yourself 2 pair of cheap sunglasses. in case the 1st pair falls off...

I'm not really into sunburst especially with maple fretboards but that's a very nice picture, mang.

I am not a fan of the tobacco/sun burst. This is really frustrating as I’m also a Mandolin player and non sunburst Mandolins are not that common. I had to choose between the Mandolin that sounded and played the way I wanted and the one that had a non-burst finish. Ended up with the burst of course. Wish I could just order a custom build painted to my preference but a non-mass produced Mandolin gets into the $5k+ real fast.

It's really starting to drive me . Usually my Ric or my ray or one of my Ps sit down here and I walk by almost stop to take a good look at em. This guy.....I just turn my head. I'd love to have it a metal flaked version of the candy tangerine fender put out. Just can't seem to bring myself to send it out to get new colors. It's wierd.
it appears that you treat the bass as if it were an ugly girlfriend..not sure why you take it so personal..there is nothing wrong with than color..its only a musical instrument..the color really has no urgent importance..

Ok. Good or bad here according to that criteria.

Difficult to say based on the colours in the picture. There are two factors to colour transitions: how different the colours are, and the blend. The more different the colours, the softer the blend has to be. It doesn’t look bad in the picture, but everything depends on the intensity of the red/orange.

Fair enough. Here’s one with the flash. Cloudy out or I’d get a better photo outside.
