I think Tort generally looks good on 3TB, but with the black block inlays, I think the black pickguard looks better (just IMO)

I'm the anti tort!! Except on my white sterling. It came tort and I was going to change it to black but now I really dig the tort

ah man, the more i see it the more i love that bass. I wish I could trade you for it.... but everything i have is burst finish of some sort! (seriously, 4 basses with a 5th custom on the way, all burst finishes) tobacco burst thunderclapper tickle your fancy? haha. i'm kidding of course; it doesn't play like a jazz.

My favorite feeling, sounding, playing bass is the one thing that makes my stomach turn.....sunburst. I've had it for 12 years. Gigged it everywhere. I keep one bass in my living room to just noodle around on when watching TV or if I have 5 minutes waiting for my wife or whatever it maybe. It's the only one I own that makes me cringe when I walk by. I'm probably not gonna do anything about it. I'm afraid to change bodies or even have it refinned because I love the sound that much. The term ‘sunburst’ is so overused and most times incorrectly used. To me your bass would be just fine without the orange transition for more of what I would call a tobacco burst. Hey, at least it isn’t the dreaded awful clown burst.

Get a different guard...........to offset the sunburst.

Put some decals on it.

Or, wear tinted sunglasses when your playin' it..........to change it's color.

Get it refinned. It’s the only way. It’s not even a particularily good sunburst.

I bought it in 04. I was just excited to finally buy a fender jazz after looking at em for a few years in a catalog. I don't think there was anything on the shelf other than that black and maybe wine red.

I couldn’t look at the paint for long either. It’s the reddish transition. So treat that friend with a new paint job!

I have a Fender USA 5 string P bass in the same boat. Plays great. Sounds great. Loved the burst/tort when I first got it. Now I'm over it.

I've been wanting to get a bass (like the fish) boat metal flake bass for years. What I need to do is pop all the hardware off of this one and send it to Wilkinson or somebody like that and get a refin.

I’m not getting it. That bass is gorgeous. Classic looking. I wish I still had mine.

It looks like a standard burst to me, not much different than the 64 jazz AV I have. Whats crappy about it and can you provide an example of a non-crappy burst?

You’re right, I completely concur. That makes me swallow back a bit of vomit just thinking about that wrinkleburst/arthri-tort cream combo....thanks a whole lot for that ....
You should just close your eyes and enjoy it...alone...in the back room of the basement.
