I, more likely than not, will become a member with the purchase of a 55-94. I will be playing it through an acoustic image contra, since I double on upright.

My question for you guys is about tone. The acounstic image is known as being very transparent, which is great. But as far as covering a wide range of music such as latin, jazz, rock, hard rock and funk, would I need anything extra to achieve a desired tone?

For instance, can I really funk out with that axe and amp without a preamp of some sort?

let's see... I used the 55-94 for jazz, big band, 70-ies rock, funk, power metal, melodic metal with different bands. not that I am a pro :hiding: It covers almost anything - except maybe for THIS range, LOL:

I put a set of my fav strings, Elixirs on last Friday but as i posted before, the tension made the bass a bit harder to play.
At the moment the Laklands have gone back on but i would like to get some nicks on before this Friday's gig.

laklands are made to ghs and correspond to their existing series but pre-cut to 35" scale. I had an answer from Carl somewhere which corresponds to which but just can't find it

thanks to mr.matt for leading the way on this, its something ive wanted to try for a while, and am really glad i did.

my only suggestion is that, you find quality tung oil, ive been told that the tung oil that you buy at home depot is a mixture and does not contain a large amount of tung oil.

i bought mine from woodcraft and it's 100% pure tung oil.

guys is it just me or it really is worth talking - aftermarket US treatment of Skyline necks? I think it could be a great thing to do

go figure the $600 difference on the US series :rollno: I, for one, have had three basses - not a single deluxe

They feel close to me. I use 50-105, and they are nickels.
