GREAT pics Randy.....you SURE you are in the last one???? I only see ONE person in that pic and it ain't uh -uh you!

love 'dem basses.....what was the girl/guy comment ration THIS weekend????

You guys and all your crazy ideas of changing strings, lol. It's so funny, as much as I worry about every other component of my tone, I am SOOOOOO indifferent to strings. Back in the day when I was playing a lot more funk and needed some snap on the top, I was religious about changing strings constantly, but now I probably only change strings three times a year :ninja:

I MAY change 1-2 times per year......Nickle rounds are the latest thing with me.....might try a set of stainless steels again though....or the Dunlops Markus mentioned....he says they are a nice blend of Nickle/SS sound.....we'll have to see....

Update guys....found a DJ5 in White w/rosewood (what I wanted colour wise) and its only 9.45 lbs.

The store said they will match the price on the LPB with maple I saw going much cheaper than retail. Plus...throw in a padded bag and new strings.

Its a new bass....store owner says action is AMAZING.

What do ya think? I didnt know whether to test a MM Stingray 5 just in case, but they are £400-£500 more than this bass is, (because Ive got a really low offer pricematch).

Cheers!

DO IT!!!! I had one just liked that and loved it.....

there's NO NEED for you to try the MM Stingray....now "move along"...

Hmm, no I agree its a good price.

But, there is an 08 LPB with maple for the sam price incl new strings and Lakkie gig bag, or the White with rosewood thats 06 for the same price.

I think id much rather have a 'newer' model...hmmm.

Thanks

If the '06 is "new" it should not matter to you...it is light and the color you want....GO FOR IT!!!!

here is a pick to tempt you more:

STOP tempting us with Aaron's new bass!!!!! I LOVE THAT COLOR!!!! was after a LPB DS'd BG a while ago....alomost had a deal and the guy backed out - last minute.....OK I guess since it was only a 4 banger!!!

Here are a few more photos.

Back of the headstock (note the first year use of just Crafted in and not Designed in). I removed the sticker and you can see the neck tinted with age. Now I have a small pale patch where the sticker was. I guess that will get better with time :)

I cant access the LOG board either....it's considered a social networking site. The firewall prevents that. Oddly enough, I can access TB:confused: I will check out the LOG on an unrestricted network after work. I am pleased to hear the split was ammicable. One more thing, is Carl's shop going to be in the city or the burbs'. I do not know if Carl is a city dweller or lives in the burbs'.

I am both sad and pleased at the same time to hear about Carl. I am pleased to see him go so he can branch out and do his own thing. He is talented tech who brings a great deal to the table for Lakalnd. I am sure he will be extremely succesful on his own and I wish him the best of luck.

However, everytime I have gone to the shop my interactions with Carl have been nothing short of a positive experience. He is part of the equation that accounts for the excellent customer service rap' people rave about when rergading Lakland. For that, I am sad to see him leave. I hope Lakland finds a good replacement. I know he will still be there....but for how long??

I agree 100% - Carl is one of the main reasons they have such great support! I believe he will be resident at Lakland for the forseable future......

as for a "replacement" - not likely - no one can "replace" Carl! and part of the reason was "downsizing".....maybe when the economy "improves" he will join them again (?????)...

BTW - he can do ANY Lakland repairs and has access to their parts etc.....gotta love it!!!

Thanks bro! It was a last minute spur of the moment kinda of decision, but I think it will be worth it. I am going to drop some flats on it and give it a whirl, along with a few other mods. New P/G, etc...I know it has a matched set of Fralin pick-ups too....I am anxious to see how they sound together, especially with the separate tone controls. I know the Fralin in my current BG is incredible!

You will LOVE the Fralin set.....I loved mine......the Nordies are taking away the selling pains but they are still there a little bit...
