Its also VERY cool that the luthiers here are pitching in to make things right. If I had the $, I would commission a bass from every one of them! I have a tool box full of parts, pup's, tuners, bridges, etc. Send me a list of what you need and if Ive got it it, it's yours. This is a sub bass? I have a set of sub strings! Just let me know.

If this guy is running for some kind of office, I bet his opponent would just love to know this thread exists.

Yeah the dude is a piece of work. If it were up to me, I would give Alex five minutes alone to beat him severely about the head and shoulders with that $1200 15 piece neck blank.

Dont know about 38"............they are cut for a fender 5 inline 34" scale. Ill have to measure. I allways leave extra length for plenty of wraps but............

Well, no actually. As you can see in the pic, he cuts so that one end has a much longer thick section before the taper (where the wings would attach). So you do end up with two blanks, but only one has a long enough thick section to build the design I wanted.

Now can anyone guess which one Mike gave up?

Yep, the one with only 8 or so inches to attach the wings. The one that is of no use to my build.

Hopefully one of the men from the League of Extraordinary Luthiers (all these fine men that are helping me out) can use it for one of their builds, but for mine? NOPE!

First, he's an idiot for not cutting it with the taper halfway along the length, so both pieces are usable.

Second, what a...nevermind, we all can fill in the blank. Unbelievable.

One of the guys from the League of Extraordinary Luthiers (sorry guys if you don't like that name, but I'm sticking with it ) has come up with a clever enough work around.

It cant be used as originally intended, but with a little bit of modding, all is good.

The blank is still usable if you split the body-end "lump" completely, and put thickening block on the backside. You'll lose the stripey lams on the back, but still have them at the front.
