At least it’s not a FIAT
Years ago I went to work for a contractor building shovels and rakes and other implements of destruction for our Uncle Sam. My boss was an Italian guy who married a WAF captain when she was stationed in Europe. The first time I met my new boss he told me he worked at FIAT as a machine shop manager before coming to America. I couldn’t help myself and said, “WOW! And they hired you here anyway?”. I was surprised by his angry reaction and even when i told him I was joking he was still furious. We managed to work it out over the next few days and became good friends before it was all said and done.

I almost died in a V8 Vega, buddy hit a pickup at 100. Got a headful of stitches.

I drove mine faster than that, but never hit anything thank God. I had Camaro 14" front disks and a Nova 10-bolt rear end for the drum brakes ( and to keep the engine from destroying the car ).

I am very glad you survived. Besides rust, Vega's were know as one of the least safe vehicles around.
Even before you dropped a V8 into one. PS - they made create gear haulers for gigs though ( hatchback ).

Ours had a 2.73 gear, we guesstimated it would do 140 on the interstate. We had slid sideways for a hundred feet before taking out the C10 pickup. Scrubbed off a little speed. :D .30over 283 11.5:1 solid cam Holley and Hooker.
