After watching the video I don't doubt how the RR could have bumped the bike. A bike is more agile than a car, so when he moved from the side of the RR to the front and quickly slowed with no brake lights, it only took a few seconds in which the driver of the RR had no way to react to what was happening. Comparing the situation to if it had been another car isn't fair. To me all the talk about what gear he was in is pointless. You can clearly see the intention of the biker on the video.

I hope the driver of the RR isn't charged. It's hard to see from the video what they were doing to threaten him once they stopped him after bumping the bike. But it was clearly a reaction out of fear and in a situation where you fear for your own safety, not to mention the safety of your family, your adrenaline and fight or flight instinct takes over and you react without really weighing all the consequences.

Actually what he did was right. If you are in fear of your life or the life of a family member bein threatened, to get the hell out of there. There just happened to be a side effect to putting his family at safety. It's the same rationale across any and all methods of self defense.

@Solarman - the whole undercover thing threw me at first. My first thought was "awesome, they have some undercovers with them, maybe the idiots who did this will get busted on their testimony", I was seeing it as possibly a good thing until I started hearing that some of them were NOT necessarily undercover with the group but just off duty... then the one idiot actually joined in the attacking... bummer.
