Shuttle 9.0?

I wish I knew about all the technical stuff. All I know is this, the 9.0 into an 8 ohm Uber 210 is loud. To me that's counts. If I need the tech. stuff, I call Genz ahd they tell me "You know it's loud, don't worry about the rest".

That approach served me well for 30 years. All of a sudden I get interested in this stuff, and the more I learn, the more I realize that the only thing that counts is what you do with it. However, I've learned a lot about why I don't like certain things, so it hasn't been for nothing.

I'm down sizing and I just bought a NEOX-212T, and looking for an AMP. Is the 9 going to be a good match with this cab.

I want to get an amp that will drive the cab to the 600watts rating and still have some headroom.

Will the cab hold up in this setup?

My style is Rock..as seen here..[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

ps. I do understand the basic concepts of amps and speakers when it comes to speaker damage due to either clipping or pure over powered.

Im sure on the youtube video Ed did, he mentions he used the Shuttle 9.0 with that cab....and its fine.

I had the same question. I had just purchased a Shuttle 6.0 and a NeoX 212T in September and then 2 weeks later the 9.0 came out. (see post #11) I was able to return the 6.0 and now I'm waiting for the 9.0 to be delivered to Japan. Since I was worried about the 9.0 being too powerful for the 212T, I emailed Jeff Genzler himself and as usual, here's another one of his quick, courteous and and helpful replies:

Certainly, extra headroom as in the new 9.0 is something players will check out if their needs are such that more headroom is desirable. The 9.0 is also a good match for the NEOX-212T. Certainly, if you boosted a lot of low end and drove it hard there could be issues. You could also have the same issues with the Shuttle 6.0 or even a lower rated power amp.

In short, when used within practicial parameters this combination will work great.

There has been a lot of technical discussion throughout this thread which is good but I think this bit of info from Jeff himself will answer the question in a way that non technical people (like me!) can understand.

I just want to take a moment to talk about the level of customer service provided by the good people at Genz Benz. I just received my Shuttle 9.0 and was a little worried because I didn’t hear much of a volume difference between the Shuttle 6.0 and the 9.0 with similar volume and EQ settings. I shot Jeff Genzler an e-mail and in no time he got back to me. Here’s what he said.

"Regarding a difference in output…I don't think you will notice much by setting the controls to similar settings. You will feel the difference when driving the 9.0 towards it's full output. That is where you will notice the increased headroom. Kind of like driving a 200 HP and 400 HP car. They both can do 60 mph but you feel the difference in the bigger engine when you step on it. I hope that makes sense."

I’ve now done a few gigs with my 9.0 and Jeff was spot on! The 9.0 has significantly more volume, headroom and just sounds bigger, warmer and fatter! But that’s not the point. The point is that these guys are second to none! What other company can you call and have the president of the company actually answer the phone and give you as much time as you need to answer as many questions as you have? What other company can you send an e-mail to and get a response directly from the president? I don’t know of many.

The customer service at GB blows my mind. You might think this level of customer support would only be given to the guys endorsing GB. Well I’m not an endorser. I’m just some bass player in New Jersey doing gigs in a wedding band with a few questions about my new 9.0 and in no time the head of the company, Jeff himself, responds each and every time. Phenomenal !!! You guys rock !!!

I just have never dealt with any company that has better CS than GB. It takes work and commitment to be that good, but it should pay off in the long run. I can't imagine buying gear from any manufacturer other than GB.

I find it hard to leave GB. I courted a TC Electronic classic for a few hours but sent it back in favour of a 9.0. Just love the GB products

I just posted a few hours ago but since then I got my call saying that my Shuttle 9.0 came in this morning. I literally ran down to the store to get it. As promised, it fits in the same carry bag as the 6.0 and there's no noticeable difference in weight. So, I carried it home and plugged it in.

WOW!!! Even at low volume, (can't crank it up in my apartment ) I definitely noticed a bump in headroom and it's a lot more beefy sounding. I'm sure once I have a chance to crank it up, I'll notice an even bigger difference. Additionally, like all Genz Benz amps when the EQ is set flat, the true voice of whatever bass you're using comes out. I tried 3 different basses and all sounded different.....and crystal clear!

It's funny: I wanted the 9.0 because of this thread. I was lucky because I had just gotten my 6.0 and was able to return it. Now, I may never need another amp ever again!

That's the exact same rig I'm building, If I truly get the 9. Bouncing between the 9 and Max12.

I'm so glad that you posted that Email because **** EDIT- simply because Im a good guy.. and i did it on my own without anyone asking me to... and others ride me all the time saying that the only people that talk good about GB are product endorsers. And that i should not post positive stuff here because its slanted..

So Kudos to GB and thank you for posting.. Its not only endorsers that get great CS form a real nice company.

2) as a new member of the GB family I'm very glad to hear about the CS level from GB. It sounds like similar experience I have had with, Tech21, and Hipshot. Working in a CS role myself I think when you have a great product and a great staff behind you (Management and Eng.), Great CS seems to come pretty easy.


3) and for the up and coming ShuttleMax 9, lets add a tuner and a rear input for my wireless. That way its the only device in the rack. lol besides the wireless unit.

Am I a loser/nerd because I still love my plain ole simple shuttle 6.0 with two Shuttle 12's?

Nope. If I had money that I needed to spend on _SOMETHING_, I'd get the Shuttle 9. But I don't have that problem and the Shuttle 6.0 is really delivering the goods for me. I don't know what the cost difference is between them, but if the 9.0 were a couple of hundred dollars more and I was buying new today, it'd still be the 6.0 for me.

I read this thread and I get twinges of GAS, but I am able to step back and remind myself that I really do like what my Shuttle 6.0 does and I haven't been in a situation where I wished I had more than it gives me.

I've been trying to sneak the USB charger feature into an amp for years... I have one in a prototype that I used to power my analyzer's USB preamp for use as a preamp into a different analyzer.

Of course, now that it's out in the open, let's see who put it in their next amp

That's a $5 feature that would catch on like wild fire in the bass amplification industry. I'm only half kidding. It would get used. Don't let Line6 beat you to the punch on this.
