so very true. im still thinking i could get a euro 4 peacock blue and put a 9v haz in it??!!! that would get me a new beauty alot sooner than a usa. but the satisfaction of that usa would be unparalleled for me. but we'll see :) back to the legend x, if it would hold rocker at bay for a while so he can save for that forte x, then let the man do his deed. :bassist:

I test drove a couple of each, my experience was the 4x10 generally had more punch, but 2x12 had the most overall frequency range, so you could dial in a lot more tones, as it was more flexible since it had the highs you miss with a 1x15 but the lows you lose with your average 4x10. I had been looking into getting a Genz neo 2x12 to save on weight from my HUGELY heavy old Sunn 1x15. My vote is the 2x12 will do more for you, unless you NEED that 4x10 sound.

I use two Aguilar DB 112's. One has a tweeter and one does not and I love them........ better than the GS series.......go Aggie!:hyper:

Nope...........follow the threads..........what are you trading him Jaymi? Or does it matter? Im guessing something special and black for that ns4 which will become pink or have a special paint job and maybe a little greenbacks exchange hands? I think I'm smart........maybe close? But who knows? Im just guessing!

My CRFM is a cut above my Euro LX in both construction and tone, and IMHO, a CRFM equipped with the USA 9-volt circuit will give you 95% of the tone of a USA NS series. That said, I recommend saving for a USA NS-2 or NS-4. I have been very happy with my Euro LX for the past six years, but in the back of my mind I'd always wondered whether or not I was missing anything by not owning a USA Spector.
The answer was yes.

When I finally got my USA NS-4, I had an ephiphany - this was the exact, no-compromise sound I had been chasing for the past 30 years.
(As a side note, I would recommend to anyone in the market for a USA Spector that they consider both the NS-2 and the NS-4. The NS-2 may be Spector's flagship, but the NS-4 is every bit as versatile, powerful and awesome.)

I no longer wonder if my tone could be any better - it is exactly as I want it now.

Put an end to the wondering & wanting, and buy the last bass you'll ever need - Buy a USA Spector!

I was putting new strings on my Spector for the first time last night and the low B was evidently too thick to thread into the bridge. Do I have to buy taper-cores for the low B like I have on it now? Or is there a specific gauge string that will actually fit? Keep in mind the bass is about an '05-'06

This is an on going problem with the Euro-5's. Either use tapered strings or slightly crimp the part that goes thru the bridge. I've not had nor have I heard any problems with the USA fivers. I've put as large as .138 on my Forte 5 with no problem.

The knobs the previous owner installed need to go, and there's a hairline crack/ding in the finish on the back of the headstock where it must have got bumped, but other than that its clean as can be.

It really is an excellent bass... could be an amazing bass with a refin and some TLC.

Jaymi could use it as the basis for his new song "Paint it Pink!"

If I was in my new digs I'd snag it for a oil refinish! :) But I'm a couple +months away yet... :hmm: :(

Most don't learn theory and some don't even learn the chord formations and scales. The upside is, a lot more younger players are learning to play by ear and emotion, and that I love. I took lessons when I was 13 or 14. My teacher gave me tabs, but they were mostly focused technique and scales and theory. That's actually how I learned theory. I also read music, due to school. I find that with theory, it's easier to figure out things yourself. I actually rarely use sheet music at church; I'm able to figure out the chords myself. Thanks to theory. ;)
