ha! I just posted in the Jazz bass club asking about the finish on that bass...should have known better and just asked here....
pretty sure the effect is "just" an EHX Bassballs.
I think I understand what you are saying, but I am not sure what you said at the same time.
I imagine both amps are worth less then $250 max! And I don't care for the sound or tones on tap on the bass 400. If they are the same you may not care for it either. They are also very unreliable and prone to break down.

Fair enough, I'm not trying to be rude, just saying don't buy two pedals and instead get one good one.
Has anyone got a Guyatone BR-2 as their envelope and uses it in a not funky way? Holy hell it is hard to find good examples of env. filters used in a rock context on the youtubes.

The bass 400 if that's what is in the ad, I'll be getting it and two guitar practice amps for $35, So If they look and sound fine, I'll spruce them up and sell them for like $20 each for the practice amps and see what people do with the bass 400.
Nothing is more satisfying to me than than turning the money into more money. If you think about it it's better than a bank and interest.
The Festival 800 was the amp used by the Lynyrd Skynyrd bass player. Jesse from DFA 1979 used one as a clean side and overdriven acoustic 370 for the dirt, and a rick to drive them.
Yep, LPB w/ matching headstock. Looks like a '64 reissue. Might be a MIJ or custom shop model. Chris always gets great Jazz bass tones. His other band Black Nasa is great too.
I've never heard the Bassballs before actually. See it every where, never played through one.

I'm not saying OH doesn't have a lot to be proud of, I just don't get the "northern pride" version from us northern folk.

Southern Pride isn't about being a racist or a bigot. I am far from those things. Being southern means you take things in. You look at things a little differently. I guess it's part redneck. We always had a giant cable spool in the back yard for a table. But, we didn't hate on people. Just the opposite. Just as I said earlier, people help each other. I remember walking through a neighborhood as part of a promotional campaign for a new restaurant. A colleague and myself were invited inside this lady's house for sandwiches and tea. And you guys need to stop with the Acoustic talk. I don't need to gas for any more amps right now. On a brighter note, got my guitarist's V2 all wired up with some 12" Deltas. Once we get out of the basement and into a practice spot, I'll be using all 4-15" speakers and take one of the 1-15" carvins home with me from the practice spot to jam on. This should start in September.

Haha we turned the area between my parents house and the neighbors into a little granite court with christmas lights, tiki torches, a picnic table and a grill called the "commons". Always cooking out and drinking out there, and people from all over the neighborhood see us, come by bring drinks food etc. And my uncle is an acoustic country cover wizard and plays concerts in the park.
Southern all the way. Also Southern Culture on the Skids is a great band, no matter who you are.

If you want bad ass old timey SS amp...Keep an eye for an Earth Sound Research Module 440 Bass Head 700 Watts. They look like old Peaveys. My first amp back in highschool. Got the head and a 2x15fender cab for $150 and sold it like 4yrs later for $175 lol I sure wish I still had it.

Holy hell. I wander into a local music shop on my lunch break and have a good squiz about the place...
...find an Invalid Link Removed system tucked away out the back. Same layout as my bass amp with (what looked like) 4x EL34s powering the thing, but it had 5 input channels and 2 4x8 (or maybe 4x10) cabinets.
All I could think was running a splitter before the amp, running 5 different effects into each of the channels and turning them on off/blending them together as needed...
Man I need more money!

Call me crazy but I like how old SS amps break up better than tubes...
My 1971 Peavey, 130 watts, 2 channels, bulit in distortion and plate reverb.
My old 1976 HH Electronics Bass Machine, 250 watts, 2 channels, built in compressor and phaser.
Someday I'll buy an old Sunn Beta bass to match my stack.
