Well, maybe if I was only using one amp to drive all of it, but if I were to run something like this, I'd use two amps, one for each pair of cabs, which could each have different eq and volume settings...
The whole thing is they are guitar cabs. For the same money you could buy a pile of 412's.
Think you made the right choice with the pick guard. I'm a tort fan but with that neck it looks good.
Ghetto or not do you like the tone?
What about bands that are just old?I wasn't a fan of Lights Out. The other two are good but I'm just tired of all these retro bands in general.
I love your rig. Post a pic for some of the newbs!2 415s and 2 612s work just fine haha
What about bands that are just old?
So many bands borderline Sabbath worship. How do you decide what's retro vs most "stoner rock"? Most Stoner stuff has a little bit of 70s throwback.
Yeah, it hella is. I'd love to have some random funky old military tube.wow, who knows if that sounds good, but a 1945 US navy tube is ****ing rad.
Yep. My doom bass only has one pickup, and it's a Rickenbacker bridge high-gain.Yep. Bridge pickup4lyfe. Until I want to play the P![]()
I love the Fargo movie's main overture theme. It's strangely epic for something that takes place in south dakota. If I ever mention anything about a drummer, just assume it's cancelled.
Also, the wife and I have been enjoying some especially dark television while she edges closer and closer to going into labor. Fargo, The Strain and The Leftovers, all very enjoyable.
My guitarist plays some pretty mean drums. Lives in Concord and is already in three bands, though...It's not even worth noting at this point lol. I have a functioning drum sequencing program that gets lots of compliments, maybe just time to start writing an album by myself and not worry about playing live until it's done. I also have a lot of building projects on the back burner, since I've been auditioning drummers for the past almost 6 months.
Even though I think tort looks vastly better on white than it does on any other color, I still prefer white on white. Maybe it reminds me of Hendrix's strat or something.Normally don't dig white on white, but that actually looks kind of cool. That being said, I still like the tort better. Contrast.
Logic is great.I use a Mac, because I use Logic and it's made by Apple (so only works on a Mac). New Toontrack stuff should work on anything XP or newer, as far as I know.
You play a V4.Ok, here we go.
I'm gonna actually start playing some stoner/doom in a band setting and need a fuzz pedal. No worries, I've listened to damn near every youtube/manufacturers soundclips and keep on coming back to the Fuzzrocious Grey Stache.
So, here's the question: which options am I actually gonna use?
Their sale ends Saturday so I need to jump on this right quick.
FYI: I play a V4 through a 2X15 cab but will 'ugh' be switching to a 8X10 soon.
If the vocals are the ugliest heard outside of Indian or Laudanum or Graves at Sea... they're probably from Dixie Dave.My friend used to always jam kyuss and I hated it and then one tree filled day on the way to sonic he put it on and I was like whoaaa then the rest is history. Witch came on my kyuss pandora and so on and so forth. I kinda stopped using pandora though and it just played sabbath every other song on any channel I made even if I thumbed it down.
Trying to get into buzz*oven but so far junkie and lose (which I'm pretty sure is Dixie doing vocals) are the only tracks I've dug right away.
Damn, that looks good. I'm all hungry now.Everything is on the grill tonight...

Or... or you could get a chrome pickup cover. White and chrome. It could be pretty cool...View attachment 452118
Went with white, need white pickup covers now lol. Gonna go full Edgar Winter
Wiring alone is hard I had to rubber band and my weller together and use my wire strippers as a third hand but I got it all wired up and working in like 30 minutes so I'm getting faster.
I liked the Electric Wizard song, though mainly for the bass. I wish Jus would get away from his fascination with pull-offs.Quite honestly I'm pretty tired of most "stoner rock". Anything that just sticks to pentatonic riffing for an entire album and wear way too much denim. Then you have all the Electric Wizard worshipping bands and those are just as tiresome. I feel the genre in general has become extremely watered down and very cookie cutter. Hell even the new Sleep and Electric Wizard tracks were pretty lack luster. It's like they've become parodies of themselves.
Like the new Curse the Son album that everyone seems to be blowing their wad over. I don't see what the big deal is. It sounds like 50 other releases in the last year. Stoner rock fans seem to be getting less sophisticated and more gulible. Hell all you need is a female singer and it's instant cred.
I don't know why I'm so jaded but I can't be the only one that sees this...am I?
True dat... Not many young uns in this space...

Actually, Aaron from Yob seemed to favor the bridge pickup on his EGC pretty heavily for anything fast, tonight.

My friend in the folk/rock band has a PC and uses cubase.
You play a V4.
You don't need a fuzz pedal.
I mean, you can get one, but I don't think you'll need it for just regular overdrive.
Why are you switching away from the 2x15 to the 8x10? You don't seem excited about that.
If the vocals are the ugliest heard outside of Indian or Laudanum or Graves at Sea... they're probably from Dixie Dave.
I've never been very into Kyuss. Maybe I need to smoke a lot more weed.
Damn, that looks good. I'm all hungry now.

I actually really liked the new Sleep song. It was fun.
However... I'm actually generally very, very picky when it comes to straight up retro/stoner stuff. I don't like most of it. I don't dislike it either, I just can't get excited about it. It's too derivative.
I mean, my current favorite doom bands are Yob, Neurosis, and SubRosa. Sleep is up there, but today I was mainly listening to Laudanum, Bongripper, and Thou. I think that is definitely pretty illustrative of what I like in my doom metal. I prefer to go for bands that sound very obviously like themselves.
Speaking of Yob, I saw them for the sixth time tonight. They were amazing, as always. Different set every time I've seen them. Chatted briefly with Mike and more with Aaron, and they were super chill, as has always been the case before.
But now I'm going to be all sore and tired for Catapult's show with Sea of Bones tomorrow. ****.
