Team Trace Elliott Pt 3

I see a few online on your side of the states... Harder to find any Trace Cabs on my side.:spit:

Yeah I see them come up sometimes on GC Used section in the $300 to $350 range plus tax and shipping. But sometimes like right now there's the perfect (green carpet) one for me at a better price point...$200. I just can't justify it right now because I rarely gig and when I do it rarely requires more than one of my two 1153's much less a 1153 and a 2103! If I had the disposable income, which at the moment I don't, that would be a different story!

Anyone know if there was any Trace Elliot bass gear at the 2014 Namm show ? Or is the brand pretty much finished.

They had pretty much the current lineup on display (maybe not every single cab, but a good number), but I did not see anything new. As far as I know, the Trace Elliot brand is not going anywhere.

I am the proud owner of a used GP7SM 300 (Made in England). I got it used over 10 yrs ago in a trade for a 6 string bass and it's still kicking. I'll never get rid of it.

Tom, just curious, what are your thoughts on the old vs. new? You may have already answered this question (I should probably do a search :D) so my apologies if you have - I do know that there is a lot of opinion about this on TB already.

I've owned a 410 combo identical to the 4001 up for sale in the classifieds - wish I never sold it. Well, sort of - I'm looking for something I can get in and out of my car easily now, and that definitely does not meet that criterion. However, living in the bass gear-starved community of Jax, FL I haven't encountered one of the newer amps in my area. I'm fine with that; really just curious more than anything.

I'd love to own another SMX-range head, AH350 or 400 or something. There are a couple of 112 Hydrive cabs for sale cheap (used) local to me that I think would meet my needs nicely and sound good with another TE head.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

Eric

The 600-12 with a couple 1028 cabs would suite your transportation issue.
That would be easy to load in everything but a yugo or cooper mini.
Course no self-respecting bassist would be driving a yugo. LOL.

As far as new vs. old... That's mostly user preference. Newer gear has newer options - speakons, more in/out options, tube preamp w/ SS blend, x-overs, fiber optic back lighting, 12 band eq, etc.
but it all falls to your ear. Which era makes the sound you love vs. like.

Well, I did a bit of that in my Link Removed.

I picked this little practice amp up just now....

AH400SMX and 1048H
