The bass you've always wanted?

The Bass of Doom. The actual bass, not a reissue. Just the mojo of it sitting in my music room would be awesome.

I have the bass, my 97 Fender American Standard Jazz Bass. Bought it new so all the nicks, dings, scratches are from me. It's been my main bass for practice, gigging, recording and always sounds and plays amazing.

FYI, I'm a pretty simple guy who is a diehard Fender player so I realize my answer is quite boring.

Even though I'm an Ibby kind of guy, fenders are amazing instruments. Someday I will have a vintage p bass! I use fender amps for what it's worth

Mine was a '73 Jazz just like Geddy's - I found one and the wifey even told me to get it. Went to try it at Guitar Center and it was one of the worst basses I've ever played. GAS instantly destroyed.

Forget bells and whistles. Any bass that I happen to be "lost in" while performing for people is the one I've always wanted.

The bass I always wanted: a red Fender Jaguar w/matching red headstock BUT as a 6-string rather than the typical 4-string. Unfortunately, this bass does not exist.

I owned the 4-string and it always left me lacking only because of the limited strings.

I'm sure a luthier somewhere could make you a 6 strings fenderish bass.

It's game over for me I'm no expert on this stuff so I just followed my nose and ended up with one of these. I have one or two others different breeds, just to fill in the gaps. And, one day, I'll tamper with this one, just a little - it could do with some sort of active passive control

Once I have acquired it... the bass I always wanted... GENERALLY get's sold to make way for the next bass on my GAS list

That being said... I currently own at least 5 basses I have always wanted. See my sig line.

It is a vicious catch 22.
