The Combo Club

But, ... but, ... but you were promoted to Lieutenant of the Cables & Cords Stockpile, were you not?
.
Well, gaining the high honors of the more prestigious and lucrative gig did not also specify that my previous post had to be abandoned. Thus, the affectionate term, "boat money"! I have not heard any complaints, so I must be doing both jobs admirably well, so why should I not be compensated for both?

After all, it is thankless drudgery I perform, compensated for by only a measly salary of schmackeroons. But I do it for the good of the club, and that is what is important, isn't it?
:woot:

Just saying hello to my CC friends. Been out of action for a week….returned from our 2 month Airstream caravan of Baja and west coast of mainland Mexico. Parked the rig to unload last Monday, Tuesday rode my moto to the neighboring big city to buy a new 25 gpm pump for the house cistern. On the way home, in rush hour traffic, I either hit a very slick spot or got tagged from behind. At any rate, broken ankle and separated right shoulder. Was wearing full protective gear so otherwise am good. Plate and 8 Ti screws installed in Fibula the following day, start PT today. Should be able to play real soon, just have to get to the guitars….keeping entertained reading TB
So glad you are in as good a shape as you are!

Wishing you a full, complete, and speedy recovery!

OMG- hope you have a great recovery. So sorry!! Glad you had a good trip…
It is for traveling. Should be a fun bass.

That looks cool! I dig the gig bag- is it padded enough or is it just for show??

Hey it's not a new pic by any stretch of the imagination

WP_20160428_12_26_37_Pro.jpg

but gives a sense of proportion of the PJB BG-400 combo + C4 in relation to My 'Ray. An SVT and fridge it's not. Easy to see the age of this portrait because the bass is pre-rehab. This is how the bass appears now

And that is a different tale. What I imagine in my mind's eye is some sort of amp stand for the PJB rig. The C4 couples to the floor, and the combo is angled at 45 degrees. Someone, somewhere, with actual woodworking skills could knock something like that out, and maybe even make it portable.

Oh, and if you haven't read it yet, an Elf combo review is now live:
New Trace Elliot ELF 1×10" and 1×8" Combos

I have finally managed to get out to a couple of our ongoing Friday night jams with my "new" little combo rig:

This last time I brought along my BSX EUB, which has always been a bit tricky with amps and generally has tended to work best with pretty upscale solutions like Acoustic Image, Euphonic Audio, AccuGroove, AudioKinesis, et al. So my expectations were pretty modest with a moderate power tweeterless 110 setup, but you don't know until you try, eh?

And yet, somehow, synergy is a beautiful thing. In that particular room with those particular players the sound and especially play feel were easily as a good as any of the (many!) $$$ rigs I've owned, and it took pretty much zero effort to get there. My two buddies who designed and built that cab (@4Mal and @singlemalt) did a killer job, but kudos to the guy at Mojo Sonic who did and sold the original version 15 or so years ago as well.

Those twisters may be several miles east of you @Miles_ONeal but it looks very dangerous to me here safe in South Australia..take care bass buddy.
For those who dont know what i'm talking about..here are a couple youtube vids of whats happening in Miles_O home town Round Rock Texas during 22nd and 23rd of March...

And it was dangerous where they were, for sure!

That sucks. (My worst wreck involve a broken collarbone, mildly damaged knee, and undiagnosed closed head trauma). Be well soon, sir. No witnesses came forth?

Ah, ouch... I went flying across the steps in our basement the other day- like across- landed on the other side of them. It would take way too much bandwidth to describe how that happened, lol... But it really sucked!
I'm ok... :D

As far as witnesses, no idea if anyone said anything to the transito police. I know I supplied my Mex Driver’s license and may have given a short description to someone, but so far no paperwork, tickets etc have shown up. There were several folks there to help and surely someone saw the whole thing. But since I (a gringo with US plates and inadequate Spanish) was the only one obviously involved, not much for them to do. So glad my friend arrived and then my wife. She signed a paper allowing my ‘cousin’ to ride it home. If Transito tows it, odds of ever getting it back, let alone as is, are slim we are told.
i am healing well. Stitches come out today and start real PT on the ankle. Shoulder in a sling for a few more weeks then PT. No sign of any contact on the bike from behind, so who knows why I went down.

Oy. Could have been a lot worse on any of those fronts. Glad it's as good as it is and you're patched up.
