Good to see everyone is busy doing chores, playing music (loved your jam day, RR), and gigging (that’s a full-time schedule, GP). Miles, you’re a busy guy as well and as long as you’re all having fun, nothing else matters.

Tonight, I’ll upload our little video and see if the mods allow it to stay up. We certainly do not own the music, don’t plan on making a penny on it, and we did play/sing over it. Hope you’ll enjoy the viewing. Who knows, maybe it make a short run at M’s cinematic lounge and laundromat!

Yeah, I loved my jam day too. Maybe a little too much: I ended up playing a few more songs after Troy left, and that probably contributed to my not getting all my car work done. But the new carb is on the mower and everything I took apart is back together. No extra screws or nuts!

Swapping from Shorty to Woody through the D4 was an eye-opener. Active fretless just sounded so much nicer on Wish You Were Here than passive fretted. But Come Together with a short scale using Pyramid Gold flats sounded perfect-o! Big surprise there, right?

It's not very combotastic news I have here. Rather it's bass news as the first steps for an upgrade to my Chowny CHB-1



are in place. Very oldetime readers recall I swapped out the OEM tuning machines for Gotoh Res-o-lites when it was new. That's nearly four years ago!

The bass has served me very well. My ailing StingRay means it was my only bass until my Cat arrived in May, 2021. Took something of a back seat with the Cat and reinvigorated StingRay. With its birthday close ... I decide to upgrade the electronics, but not the pickups, for now. CTS pots, a Nordy Tone Drop (yes I know any fool can slap one together for 10 bucks and beer, but I don't rate fool with a soldering iron), and a Switchcraft Jack.

All the Nordy Tone Drop is, is a push-pull pot with a .47 and .1 cap, with sweepable tone. Instant dub. And change the wiring (this is the important part to me) from V-V-T-T to Master-V-V-T. The Tone Drop is an afterthought.

The bass will play very well through my combo

Can I join? I just sold my 98 lbs Eden cabinet. I have yet to gig it but I'm hopeful it will work out. I may experiment with an hf driver swap. I put a compressor in front of it and it really woke up.

Well, here goes nothing. #2's and my acting debut on TB. Could be the first, could be the last. All I know is I took the musical part seriously, as I tend to do, and then she camped it up and made it fun. Let us know what you think. I'd like to thank Soul Reflection for his post-video editing work. Or into and close looked amateurish (how else?), but he made it open and close more professionally. Depending on the song, we may make more of these, but what I'd really like to do is all the instrumentation ourselves (and, obviously, with others) and not feel like we're having to overborrow from the masters. I suddenly find myself with the time to begin such ventures. Enjoy!

I use whatever compressor, HPF(or LPF?), and other [stuff] built into Rumbles*. Occasionally I'll dig out my EHX Micro POG.

My recently acquired Double Four (thanks FL emeritus) also performs surprisingly well with my mandolin!

Now I must get back to lawn mower repair and automobile maintenance.

I've written a YA fantasy series involving dragons, faerie, intrigue, mayhem, not exactly dead sorceresses, Scotland, Albania, legends come to life, Dr. Strange/Scarlet Witch level weirdness, and more. Alas, no dungeons, per se.

Hey, can I get in on this club? Proud owner of two Tech-21 wedges. Both have 10" drivers, both are 60 watts. The Power Wedge is used as a slave/ DI out from the Landmark 60, which is used either by itself for smaller gigs, or XLR out to the PW. The EQ on the Power Wedge ( PW ) doesn't affect the DI signal, only the sound onstage....great for tricky rooms. I've used this rig for fairly big festival gigs, with lots of PA, and it's total Killer. No, it's not the loudest, but the tone to the PA is so great, they only weigh 33lbs each, and it's kinda refreshing not being freakishly loud onstage. Takes a little getting used to, yes, but well worth it. I'll keep one by me, and if the drummer is being friendly, one by him

Hello combo clubbers... ~My main rig is an Ampeg PF350 head over their HLF112 cab, but I've had many, many combos over the years. Currently also have a new Acoustic 1x8 combo which I'm returning to GC for exchange (with more $$ of course) for a Vox VXBA 1x8 combo. Reason? ~Bad back with intermittent flareups; -the 22lbs of the Acoustic will certainly be a real lightweight for many, but the Vox's 9+ lbs is a helluva lot more attractive to me! {And I read where it's got some almost Ampeg tube-like tones to it also...}

Hey there, 'Rambler, glad to hear from ya. FL emeritus...I like that. That deal between us was made in Heaven because you'll get a lot more mileage out of the D4 than I ever would (I believe its true calling in life is that of acoustic instrument support, like that of a mandolin, uke, acoustic guitar, etc.

I took the money from the sale and purchased my current Holy Grail rig for recording, the Ampeg 20T, and the PF-112HLF cabinet. I couldn't be happier and I'm glad you feel the same way.
