The Un-Official Sadowsky SA200 Thread...

A side note to my visit to Sadowsky on Monday while in NY was getting to play through the SA200. Good lord, I am pretty much 100% positive it is the best sounding head I've tried out! Just amazing, amazing, amazing,........

You DID have a good visit, didn't you? :D

Plugging my 5 string, fretless F-Bass in to my Sadowsky SA200 powering two EA CXL-112 cabinets was a joyful experience. I found two NOS cabinets when I was looking for a Aguilar DB212 cabinet. gillento's rig looked so nice! I had seen Tom's post of the SA200 through two EA VL-208 cabs and got curious.

I didn't try them out at the store. I just wanted them but I was worried that they would sound too hifi. With my passive F-Bass in single-coil mode, bridge pickup all the way up with just a hint of the neck pickup, the rig has a gloriously warm, burpy tone. With two cabinets stacked, it's not lacking in the low end either. I use a 137 TI Jazz flat B string which sounded clear AND low.

One problem though: in the rack the Sadowsky head hangs over the sides of the cabinets. Actually, I prefer the look of the SA200 without a cabinet and may have a case made to store it in just for moving it, kind of like an SVT "trunk."

Can't wait to play out with it. Did I say it was loud? ...two 103 db cabs, WOW!

I bet that is a great sounding combination!

I'd also love to hear that amp and cabs using a Roscoe 5 and Dingwall 5.

I have my SA200 on ebay in AUS at the moment. I keep getting signs that I shouldn't be selling. Man I tried it with my HS410 again after seeing this thread move its way up the ranks again. I am soooooooo going to have regrets letting it go. Anyone else sold one that has any insight on how to cope? I think I am going to need a support group....

If I think about it, I wish I had NEVER sold my '69 SVT with TWO flatback CTS equipped cabinets. ...or my blonde '63 Fender Showman amp with a single JBL D140 in a tone ring cabinet. ...or my '70 Acoustic 360. ...or my '66 Ampeg B15N.

Can't think about those things now. Just keep going for YOUR sound, you can hear it, and find the equipment that will help you get there.

Can you see my Fender Showman on the far left?

I heard that. That's some real great gear. Nice photo!

Is it safe to buy a Sadowsky SA200 without trying? I love everything Sadowsky I ever heard or played (own 2 Sadowsky basses) and I think it's worth the price and I would be buying from a store, but I don't have the time in the next couple of days to go and test it and I'm afraid if I wait any longer it will be gone.. :help:

It's on hold for me, I will probably test it thursday or friday and if I don't have the time they are willing to ship it to me. Is there anything specific I have to look for when I'm trying it out?
I will be using it with my Ampeg SVT410HLF cabinet for now (until I have the funds to buy another cab). Anyone tried this combo?

And I'm pretty siked :hyper:

Congrats! Im running my SA200 with Schroeder 21012 and it has a killer tone. Try to combine your 10"s + 15": Heaven:smug:

I have bought the SA200 :hyper: I went to the shop and tried out different amps for about 3 hours and went for the SA200 :D
The amp is in great condition, the previous owner used it as a practice amp in his living room :D Will post some pics soon and a review after I try it with my own cabinet :bassist:

Congrats! I think you'll be quite happy.

Thanks! I think so too!:D Have you ever tried it with 2 Orange 1x15's? Tried it with one and was quite impressed, but didn't like the 4x10 that much. I will probably sell my 410HLF and look for something else, I'll probably end up with a Berg cab (HS410 or NV610/412) allthough they are quite expensive in Europe.
