If talking about a gen1 T-bird II compared to a P-bass - 1" difference. (the II more central - P closer to the saddles)

Me being heavy handed on a Rickenbacker model 4000.

This and another tracks reminded me a lot of a band most will never have heard of from the early 90s, Asight Unseen. (Their album tracks were OK to very good, but they were great in concert. really cool guys to hang with after a concert.)

I generally run volume wide open except on the G&ls, in which case I would have to drastically adjust the amp vol. I used to have everything about half to 3/4 open so I had room to go either way. As in if a drummer or guitarist got to loving hearing themselves a little too much. I then read that not having the vol and even tone kind of chokes the tone in general a bit. I knew things got a little brighter with the vol all the way open, but kept things as is. About 10 years ago I started running most basses wide open. Most two PU basses I believe I always did so I was getting a consistent tone and not having to worry about where each vol needed to be.

I bought a Morley optical volume pedal specifically so I could run the bass wide open but still (a) set my default a little below wide open on the pedal to give that extra headroom if needed and (b) do the volume changes easily if I wanted. I never really mastered the pinkie swell.

I don't remember where I read it but some years ago there was a guy who could almost pinpoint your address by your accent in the U.S.

I'd have driven him bonkers.

Fedex finally delivered on time, but the Wanderlust Green Epiphone Embassy I have had on order since 3/12/21 is junk.

I exploded the pics they sent me and I can see the scrape mark on the upper bout, and the very discolored fingerprints (almost rusty) on the claw and bridge. Scuffs on the edges of the bridge pickup.The plastic is still on the pickguard, but it looks like someone was using a hacksaw as a pick.

those things were kind of irritating, but I can remove the plastic on the pickguard, polish off the fingerprints, and scuffs, and buff out the finish scratch.

I wasn’t even going to fret about it.

Then I went to set it up with the stock strings.

action way too high, with the bridge bottomed out.

pickups lowered as far as they can go, and they are WAY too high.

I could cut the saddles to lower the action, BUT with the pickups bottomed out, the strings would be on the pickups.

my other embassy is pretty much perfect and it was purchased as a Demo model.

I had it out of the box less than an hour and a half. It’s already boxed up and ready to return, pretty shaging disgusted right now…

Luckily there are countless songs out there to like or not particularly like. As only one example most people dis The Bee Gees, one of my all-time favorite groups. Never stops me from enjoying their decades long contribution to pop music. Oh, and as much as it was similarly overplayed (as FB and StH) at the time - they made some of the best Disco music. Just that no-one yells "Stayin' Alive" at a live show I've ever attended...

Some of these professional enablers here (and you know who you are), finally got me to bite. It was exactly the color I was looking for. It's new from a shop that seems to have bought out a store that was a Gibson dealer/seller. I liked that they moved the pots to being inline. Owner is a Thunderbird fan and thought it looked weird the way Gibson had them.

Like 'em or not, it's always been obvious they could play. And who doesn't hit a wrong note? I mean besides Scott, and maybe his roady?

The ergos on my NR are different than the reverse but not uncomfortable or awkward feeling, just different. It might just be me but first position on my NR feels a bit longer in reach than my regular birds. Might be because I’m normally playing seated and the lower body cutout that rests on my right thigh could potentially be further back towards the bridge, but I never measured to confirm it because it’s really not an issue.

I remain 2021 NR curious and still on the fence on getting one, but your honest playing opinion and direct comparison to one of your VP’s would really help me make up my mind.

They are definitely alnico humbuckers. I know that I'm in the minority but I always put the higher value pickup in the neck position not the bridge.

I'm thinking I need to swap mine. I care more about balance on guitars. On bass, I want the neck growl.

I love KISS, their early stuff especially - I was already playing bass when I first saw them - Gene only made me want to play more! I only saw them once, in '75 and RUSH opened the show.

I love their 60s stuff. I wasn't a big fan of disco in general, but they still had the chops, for sure.
