There is hope for music, maybe. I watched a recent interview with Al and Geddy where Geddy said that he saw where 70% of youth are listening to music from “our generation” (his words, pointing to himself and Al), and was astounded by that, and added that this “was some condemnation of the state of music today.”
This is true to an extent. But there is a wealth of new music out there waiting to be discovered. That’s why I like Spotify (in spite of its evils). I find new bands and artists all the time, most of it classified as “Indie.”

Silencers - "The process of Inverse String Winding compresses the outermost part of the cover wrap leaving the internal structure of the string intact. Exclusive to S.I.T., this design produces a silky feel which is easier on your fingers and frets, but explodes with a great sound. Perfect for fret-less basses. Nickel plated steel over hex-core."

Interesting to know how that differs from GHS Pressurewounds. Sounds different, but seems like the same idea. GHSs are Alloy52, however.

Have SIT Silencers on a bass, semiflat/halforund.
I dig them; less noisy/clanks/zings than rounds, and some tone from flats.
Think gauge I bought is .040.

My post wasn't very clear like a lot of mine, I meant the 50's rock & roll upright stuff wasn't usually mixed very loud, I think The Beatles changed all that, they were the first band I remember with loud bass.. With The Stones it was the speaker not the LP, it was a cheap mono record player I had gotten for Christmas, it had one 4 inch speaker, they had some deep bass in some of their tunes.

I can be more 'experimental' in the music I consume. I can listen to an artist I have never heard of without committing to buying an album...
