I swapped the SIT David Es on the '62 Jazz and installed the Power Wounds. I've only played at home, but I'm almost certain that @BklynKen is correct that they are the same string. My ears aren't detecting any noticeable difference, and I am unfortunately for me picky (i.e., OCD) about what I'm hearing.

I’d consider their early stuff as classic progressive rock, later stuff probably not as much.
What would you classify their 1971 Echoes as? I wouldn’t call it traditional classic rock of that era, hence I refer to it as classic prog rock. Is there a better classification for it?was wondering as well…
LOL - No idea what Waters played when, nor do I care. He played a bass, his songs have bass lines and some are actually fun to play. Do I sound like Waters? Nope, not when I play and especially not when I open my mouth. If your advice is that none of us should be playing any songs using a Tbird unless the original recording was played with a Tbird then I guess we’re all doing it wrong.

I picked my basses up from John Caruthers’ shop this AM. I have my preciouses back.
The ‘15 needed a new jack. I thought it was a bridge volume pot issue, but they traced the issue to the jack and replaced it. I was concerned, because the wiring in that bass with the taps is confusing. It sounds wonderful again. I’m happy we’ve been reunited. It’s a shame I paid a few bucks to get it fixed since it should be covered under warranty. But to handle it that way would have cost a lot more than to have John fix it.
I also had the EPI Custom Shop Limited Edition Pelham Blue iV in to have the bridge volume pot replaced. They did that repair. There was some confusion as I also left my Pelham Blue Gibson ‘13 NR for some fretwork. Anyway, unbeknownst to me, the Epi had loose/high frets. They repaired those and did a level and crown. I’ve got to say, this is now one of the most amazing Thunderbirds I’ve ever played. It’s perfect. I challenge anyone to show me a better playing Epi IV.
As for the ‘13, it’s going back for the same treatment the Epi got. Not an issue that it’s going back. Honest mistake. And it didn’t cost me anything.
I’ve also decided to have them fix the fret sprout on my Seafoam Green Fender PJ and install a set of EMG pickups in it.
More on that later.
The charges were very reasonable. A lot less than I expected. For great work.

I suppose technically, yes. But Yes, ELP, King Crimson, early Genesis, etc are supposedly classic “Prog.” But all were rockers too. Labels pretty much suck IMO. Listen. Enjoy. It’s all good.was wondering as well…
Funny, my 2013 NR has some fret sprout but the Reverse is perfect still.
No problem. I’ve been hammered on this end with home remodeling and relocating my daughter to Nashville, not to mention the holidays. Not getting nearly as much bass time as I’d like.
Great to see your 2015 bass is all better again! John does great work from what I hear. It is amazing how much of a difference a full spa set up by a master can make.
Part of me says I should drive out there and pick it up, take it directly to Pat Wikens for a refin in Pelham Blue…
LOL - the refin will cost more than the bass! But it would look sweet.
More like $200. I don’t think many occasional sellers understand how much prices have increased since 2019.
Yep. Basically, a custom finished VP for around 1k. But it has a case and isn’t something otherwise available. But there’s another Thunderbird I have my sights set on right now…
