Wow! If you’re an outdoorsy person and like to hike in the woods and swim in the ocean you better know your hazardous species and what to do if encountering them.
Sounds like there’s a lot of danger down under, but still a place I’d love to visit.

In the US we have a lot of aggressive land animals (Bears, Alligators, Crocodiles, Mountain Lions, Badgers, Wolverines, Wolves, Wild Boar and ex Wives) but not a lot poisonous stuff other than rattlesnakes, water moccasins a couple of spiders and divorce attorneys. Seems like weather events here - Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Flash Floods, Mud Slides, Avalanches, Wild Fires, Volcanoes and Blizzards are our biggest nature related killers.

Oz is a great place. Just be aware that everything there really does want to kill you. Including the Australians. Aussie rules is exhibit one.

There was a time in my younger days when being a "dork" ( the model trains and especially the women's clothes) or admitting it publicly would have lead to being bullied etc at school, I'm still a bit cautious about the model trains

That's good to hear! They are remarkably resilient creatures.

Both PhillO and I speak from personal experience. The accident that resulted in my fractured wrist had its one year anniversary two Friday's ago. The fracture was caused by a ladder fall and the trauma instigated a dormant carpel tunnel reaction, which lead to surgery. I'm still not 100% (CT-release surgery was done last October) but it most definitely is getting better. I was religious about following the guidelines the Dr/surgeon set and now months later, little-by-little it's recovering. He said it would be a full year before being close to full recovery, and that progress over that year would be incremental. So far he is correct. It could have been healing sooner, but the 1st x-rays of my wrist right after the accident showed no fracture. It was months later that another x-ray disclosed the fracture - and at that point a cast was put on my wrist.

Our hands as bass-players are everything - take care of your hands.

I do a lot more than playing bass with my hands...

BUt, yeah. Get medical help and if things are not progressing properly, do more investigation.

Like the Japanese Hai. Which, many times in business, means yes your sound waves have impinged upon my ear drums but there is no way we are doing business...

Usually repeated 3-5 times. Oh! Hai, hai, hai, hai, hai.

In Japanese culture, it is rude to say no to a guest. So the usual is the sucking of air through the teeth followed by "that is difficult". No without actually saying no.

Position and rank is very important as well. I recall discussing a deal with the Chief Medical Officer. The decision went to the CEO for confirmation and he said no. I asked the CMO when we might be able to reconsider. His answer was "When the CEO is dead". He was quite serious.
