agree on every point sir…some ran those type preamp tubes on 12Vdc back in the 90’s….doesn’t sound like anything ever came of that as it turns into a completely different device….marketing hype? probably, I just don’t know enough about that mode of operation to anticipate any of what he says…..sounds good on the clip….that said, not better than any other decent fretless tone out there so….

Yeah, I personally haven't heard anything that great with low voltages on the tubes. But I suspect they're using one of the newer, tiny tubes (I didn't go read in depth on the guitar). The filament heat alone is no joke, and the stresses of bouncing around risk breaking the tube. I love outside the box thinking, but you gotta learn what to keep and what to pitch.

we used to joke about a 12AX7 with just the heater hooked up viewable through a grill in the front panel of a sampling keyboard (Emulator IV) when at Emu Systems in the 90’s….

We thought about doing that with computers but didn't want to deal with the extra heat.

Insurance paid for my '78 P as well. About $1'200 I think they gave me (about 2x what I paid for it). The adjuster was a guitar player and really understood instrument prices. It was actually a good thing. I had not played for a little over 20 years and not even touched a bass during that time. I kept being asked to play but pushed it off. I let a guy at church use the bass and it was stolen from there. Not his fault at all. When I had to do the research to suggest it's worth and get numbers on my side for the church insurance, I really began to realize how much I missed playing and got sucked back in. In that respect, that bass bass getting stolen was absolutely one of the best things that ever happened. I love playing.

Bonus: Had it not been stolen, I would have never known anyone here, and that's worth a lot.

If I come steal one of your current basses, will you come to the GTG?
