Thunderbird Club

Anyone care to go for a stroll with Rocco?

<edit>

He totally shoulda been rockin' an NR all these years:cool::smug:

I grew up with "Back to Oakland". Sick rhythm section, fantastic horns, great vocals from Lenny White. All of it, great band. Don't make em like this anymore... sorry to sound like everybody's old black grandfather, but hey...

That's a favourite song of mine, I enjoyed the Thompson Twins version at Live Aid

We do a version of Helter Skelter in our set but a lot closer to the banshees version than the Beatles

That was cool, today wasn’t near as well attended or have as much star power but as a consolation I got to go here:

So which bass was this that you them on, exactly?
The Cobalts are on my 5 string Epi Bird. They're built w/ P/J pups. I don't use the J and wasn't impressed w/ the sound of the P w/ 7ender 7250s. I was considering changing the neck pup to a TBird of some kind for $3-400 but on Jeff's recommendation tried the Cobalts. They give the bass the punch I expect out of a 'Bird(and $30 is a lot less $$):)

Anyone here have a Thunderbird that you play through a CL? Any suggestions on EQ and gain structure?
I have been alternating back and forth between my PRO 4 and a CL that I'm using, pending buying it. I played with the settings until I was happy and by the time I was done, the dials were set almost identically - Bass at ~1:00, Mid at noon, Frequency at 3, Treble at noon, Gain at 10:00, volume to taste.
That said, I play through a pre-amp that gives me 40% of my tone then I add in my technique for another 20% and finally, I rely on Ampeg's magick for the other 40% drool
If you are looking for a bass straight to head review, I can tell you that the basis of my choice of head & cab was made by comparing exactly that, just my bass through the head and my cab (Ampeg 610HLF). I'm having a very hard time choosing between the two. My eyes say that the CL just looks 'right' on the cabinet, but my ears keep pulling me back to the PRO.
Full disclosure, for practice at home, I use an Ampeg BA-115 (so, I really like Ampeg ) and I also play through a Rumble 500 head/ Rumble 410 cab (sometimes I'll use my 2 Fender 410's with my PRO 4 when I want the air movement of an 810)
Sorry to ramble but it's Saturday morning and I'm not paid to think on the weekends :roflmao:

Speaking of which, time to go and :bassist:

One of my favorite concert halls is The Beacon, in NYC.
Aside from Carnegie Hall, which I haven't been to since the 70's.
The son of FZ, Oct, 2016 I think.

The Beacon is on West 72nd or so? I saw the Dead Kennedys there in about 1982 with about 10 othe punk bands. It was an odd place for that, what with the ornate architecture, fixed seats, and out of control audience. It was great, and I left with no visible or permanent injuries. Miracles happen.
