Thunderbird Club

something I once heard is ringing my bel with this guy(?). Hanging on to anger is like drinking poison, wishing it will affect the other person. Sounds like this guy(?) drank the poison hoping to infect us, the smart t-bird loving peoples
Nah, he just had an off day. Best to let it go. It is just the internet.

As a relatively new member, I found this group to be very helpful and accommodating.

The thing that threw me off at first was what I perceived there to be very little actual Thunderbird discussion. I waded through pages and pages, not wanting to burden the group with redundant questions.

Then I figured it out.

This group churns through pages per hour where others add pages per month. It’s like a speeding carousel , and can be intimidating at first, but I know now that you can ask anything, in the middle of the swirling vortex, and within minutes you have folks chiming in.

What I’ve not seen is any hate or “search is your friend” snarkyness. Folks here are awesome, which is why the whole “7ender-hate” flame-out took me by surprise.

Probably someone just having a bad day.
It’s kinda like friends sitting around shootin’ the s**t. But when something important comes up, we try to handle it.

About the only Fender razzing I've seen In this club has been light hearted tongue in cheek stuff more or less as a parody of the sometimes serious Thunderbird and general Gibson hazing that goes on in the TB GP. Tort comments here abound very much in the same manner as a reoccurring Monty Python punch line.
Anyone who is triggered by these things to the point of despise and disgust is probably reading way way too much into the comments.

I'd venture a guess that more than 90% of the members of this club either have or have had a FSO. I actually have more of those than I do Gibby/Eppi basses. And some of them even have tort guards.
Here's a spread of about half of my Fender clan...

There isn't a bad one in the bunch, if there was I wouldn't still own it.

The whole point of this thread isn't that we dislike Fender shaped objects, it's that we like Thunderbird shaped objects. I'm not aware of any member in this club that's here because they loath Fender, they are here because they love Thunderbirds. Whether or not they hold Fenders in such high regard is irrelevant, as is the occasional light hearted joking about FSO.

Some people need to learn how to read in context and not be so literal and thin skinned. Now, please pardon me while I go admire my latest Thunderbird acquisition.
Your collection is looking a little, uh. Sparse. You may need another one to round it out a bit.

That explains everything! 62 is Maxwell Smart. It is why we cannot find him. He went on a mission and got sidetracked. He is talking to his shoe. Dude, Shoes! It all makes sense now.
"Yeah, it's the new Epiphone re-issue NR TBird II in Inverness Green!"

I feel the same but will add that:
Because I am not burdened by the cost of a CD, I can check out music that I may not have before streaming. And,
It is better than radio in discovering new artists. Whereas radio limits you to what play list is being used, the Spotify radio function chooses music based on the preferences of other listeners to that particular artist.
I have learned more about current music from my son than anywhere else. He goes off on all kinds of interesting tangents.

I agree with you 100%. I've been around a little while longer, although the Bird Club is so busy I can't keep up any longer so sometimes I have to skip ahead, and this place has never (that I have seen)put out the Hate Card toward anything 7ender, members are always helpful. I don't own any 7ender anything but that's because they pump out so much stuff I haven't gotten around to picking up anything 7ender, maybe one day. Now, if anyone said Spector, I am a fanboy of Spector! But holy cow those get expensive fast!
Came darn close to pulling the trigger on a new old stock Spector at a music store recently. I’m not sure of the model. The price was right. It sounded good. It played well. Nice neck. But b, c and c# on the G were just too dead to my ear. Wasn’t willing to take the chance. I guess that’s why it has sat there for awhile. Wouldn’t hesitate to add one to the family if the right one comes along.

Some of my favourite bass players play Ps and Js (and some play PJs). I have my one FSO (a Yamaha; those are very under-rated) but I know that Fender/Squier just isn't me. I like my Thunderbird. But I also like my JC, Midtown, and EB-3. My go to bass, when I am not sure what want to play is the JC. And the JC is the one that I get the most compliments on (`cause it ain't the playing); there aren't enough good things to say about it. Just such great low mids. But semi-hollow isn't for everyone.

My teacher plays 7ender/Squier almost exclusively. As he puts it, he is a very conservative player and those are the most conservative basses.
I use my JC for “classy” gigs

They’re pretty sweet.
Not just pretty sweet, freakin awesome! I've driven a Singer 911 and all I can say is you better be a damn good driver before you get behind the wheel of one. They have all the power of the newer water cooled Porsches but none of the dynamic or computerized chassis or steering control. A handful to drive is an understatement. If they weren't so ridiculously priced I'd have one.

Here's a wee bit of background...

You know, I dont get on TB very often. Almost never at all. the only time I ever visit the Tbird club is because someone mentioned me and it shows up in my alerts. 3 times I have been mentioned here and 3 times Ive read on the same phukking page some ass hole bashing Fenders.....again!. That is the whole reason I left here in the first place. Imagine the poor bastard that owns a Fender comes in here looking for info on a Tbird because they are interested in buying one and finds the Fender bashing going on. Sale or no sale?. I actually felt ashamed to own mine after hanging out here and sold the phukkin' thing. Hated owning it because it made me feel phoney and pathetic. Im awaiting on the moderator to delete my account for me, nothing more to see here. Some real good genuine dudes here but the ones who promote the consistent bashing should be ashamed of themselves. Check out the Fender Club, Ive never seen that shytt over there. Take care. Moderator do your thing!.
I guess I don’t take any of this stuff too seriously. I have a number of basses -one Fender & 3 Fender shaped objects, and 2 Birds among them. I can’t remember ever getting a hard time here when I post pics that include the Fenders.
I’m pretty sure I’ve posted photos of my 80s Jazz Bass Special.

Yep Thunderbirds are a really cool design! I love my VP and would like to get a Gibson Tbird when a deal comes up, but whatever bass is right for the gig is what goes in the truck:thumbsup:

And dude, bonus points for the word “phukking”

I did that too for portability. In the seventies I transferred tons of vinyl to cassettes. When the ability to burn to cds came out, I put tons of vinyl on cds. Sometimes spent a whole weekend doing it. Then I put a lot of music on flash discs for greater portability through an MP3 player. Spotify has changed all that. There is very little that isn’t available to stream. I think about all those hours spent just to have my music available all the time. I’d still do it if I had to, but I’m glad I don’t.
Some I've also just done for the sake of sound. SST did a terrible job with the CD versions of their catalog, so my transfer from my Hüsker Dü vinyl sounds better than the commercial CDs.

Iron Maiden (the torture device) is disputed. Many historians don't believe that such a torture device was ever used. There is some evidence that it was mocked up to demonstrate how uncivilized medieval people were. The forst known one, the Iron Maiden of Nuremburg was destroyed during WWII.

Iron Maiden (the band) has been used by US Army Psychological Operations. But, in fairness U2 and Paul Simon are also on that list.
Very interesting! Must do some research now.

My SR505 meets those criteria. I call it the Toyota. I don't know why, but when I think of it I always call it a Toyota SR505. It makes sense anyway- it's economically priced, sounds (runs) great, and is fun to play (drive).
Ay...
And it'll run forever with very little maintenance.

Oh, yeah, he's been doing that for quite a while now. In California, right?
