Thunderbird Club

I bought a beater Squier new in October for $349. Lists today at $449

So when we we talking about customers not liking prices for spec and custom work, I had to laugh. I’m $1k deep in a build. All the free labor I can supply...

Easily pass the asking price of an good off the shelf bass or if you paid someone to do it

Speaking of which, how long does it take to to defret now that you’ve done several?

My drummer friend and I are putting together a Motown/R&B cover band. I was singing backups the other night on What’s Going On and Love Train. Those lyrics from 4 decades ago are relevant today.
One of the first 60s bass lines I learned was Ball of Confusion. It could have been written today.

yeah prices are nuts, I paid $200 for my CP? Epiphone with the hard case. (Flamingo now)

I have around $500-700 into each of my “Tele” builds, and they were all completed just prior or as the pandemic started. Biggest expense were Warmoth necks, with exotic woods.

Cheapest neck was the V, roasted maple/roasted maple. The reverse and explorer necks were most expensive goncalo alves/zircote and wenge/rosewood.

defrets can take 4-6 hours total work time to complete, my NR is not complete yet, as I’m taking a little more care to preserve the nice stripey fingerboard. But to just dye black with a CA finish is super quick and easy. (Like the Flamingo)

As George says..
“I said I know, everybody funny, now you funny too”

What a kick-ass showman. :woot: I knew of him, but never really listened/watched his performances. Thanks so much for posting this awesome vid! Elvin Bishop, like Mike Bloomfield (my favorite white blues guitarist!) rocks the blues here! (always has!) :bassist:

Gotta love GT and the Destroyers, great high energy band packed with bluesy riffs and drivin rock, one of the best live concerts I’ve ever attended. Elvin is awesome as well, but I haven’t had the opportunity to see him live. I need to look into Bloomfield, haven’t heard much about him, do you have a clip you’d recommend?
