Vinyl spinners club

Discogs is an awesome place, but so far I've just purchased one record there (and I'm waiting for it to arrive: An original pressing of Rage Against The Machine's debut album :bassist:). eBay has taken care of most of my vinyl needs.

BTW, Invalid Link Removed. Still have lots of stuff to add.

Yeah Discogs is great, Really fair prices and there's quite a few record stores that sell on there too. I kinda stopped using Ebay once I found discogs because I'de find an insane price difference between 2 of the same record on both(with ebay being priced way higher). Not to say there's not still fair deals on ebay, just IME I've just found discogs to have more consistency in fair pricing.

Great collection you've got sir. I'm still adding to mine as well:

Got alot of good albums in there. I've always been of the mindset of quality over quantity. Of course having a high quantity of great quality is always the aim though. I'm probably getting:

Hawkwind-"Space Ritual Alive in London and Liverpool" & Allman Brothers Band-"Live at Fillmore East" for my next additons.I've been wanting to get more live albums in my collection.

Agree. Discogs is great. I still cruise eBay once in a while. I actually found a great copy of Santo & Johnny's self-titled release for under $10. Until recently, the best price on Discogs was over $60. Now there's one for $10 but it's listed as G+ so I doubt it's as nice as mine. I'm thrilled with the purchase because it has such a creepy sound.

Mogwai - Mr.Beast

I've been so close to buying this but, for one reason or another, I just haven't done it. It's on my wishlist, along with Come On Die Young and Young Team.

I preordered the bundle for The Thermals' new reissues and they arrived yesterday, along with a bonus No Culture Icons 7". I haven't even opened them yet but the 12" records are supposed to be on colored vinyl. That should look pretty sharp.

The UPS man also dropped off my latest turntable. It's a Realistic LAB-420 in pretty darn good shape. The stylus was damaged so I took the cart from my Technics SL-1400 and gave it a go. I love how it looks and it is rock solid at 33RPM. The sound is great, as well. I'm very pleased with the value.

Here's a link to a few crappy photos of the records and table. I'm going to redo them one I get things situated and can pull out the tripod and my other lens.

Discogs is where it`s at! I`m not sure how I stumbled across the site but it`s saved me a TON of money over buying records on ebay.Discogs almost always has the lower price compared to ebay. I highly recommend checking out the site.

Don`t get me wrong,I still buy vinyl thru ebay(I do enjoy adding up all my ebay dollars to buy more LPs) but I tend to find the more obscure indie/hardcore/metal/doom/emo type bands on Discogs. It`s either cheaper on discogs or not even available on ebay.

The only downside to discogs is that it`s a trust based site. I mean you have some protection by using paypal but the site itself is pretty hands off.
I purchased a album from a guy once(not a "store") and when he sent the invoice email he had raised the price up an extra $20. He said he just realized what a rare LP he had and just couldn`t sell it at the price he had listed on the site. When I called him shady and refused to pay he gave me a negative review for the sale. The site wasn`t much help to me over the matter. But that was only 1 time out of 50-60 transactions.
The other cool thing about discogs is that you can list records that you want to buy, then you`ll get emails when they find those records for sale. Pretty helpful!

I love using the wantlist feature on discogs. It makes finding albums I want way easier. I agree on it being a trust-based site being the only downside. I've around the same ratio of good transactions to mishaps(not many hahaha). It's defiantly where I go for the more "obscure"(for lack of a better term)/underground stuff I like. This is my latest acquisition that just arrived yesterday(haven't been able to listen to them till today though):

That link points to the current user's personal collection (not a public link). For me to see yours, please use this one...

...and replace my user name (Alvabass) with yours. I'm glad you like my record collection! Again, that's a very incomplete list. :)

Thank you! I'm checking it right now and you definitely have some great and interesting stuff. :)

Thanks :) I still haven't put all my records up though. I've got a small batch of folk/world albums that I keep forgetting to post. one day it'll get done.:hmm:

You should get Mr.Beast! It's one of my favorite album if not my fav :p

Cool setup! that turntable looks good.

I definitely plan on getting Mr. Beast. Your post inspired me to listen to my CD copy and it's definitely a great listen. And thank you for the kind words. It's not the snazziest table out there but it gets the job done. I prioritized the speaker/headphone part of my rig but a new table is on my list for future upgrades. In the meantime, I'll be enjoying the HiFiMAN HE-400s and Definitive Technology SM65s.

My setup :hyper: I received the phono pre today and it sounds good. I wouldn't mind bigger speaker I could put on stands or the floor but no rush, I'm happy with how it sounds.

The speaker placement is temporary, when my roommate leaves I'll position everythign differently on some other piece of furniture I have yet to buy. I was thinking about one of those "bookcase" at Ikea with cubes.

Nice!

The Expedit series at Ikea is perfectly sized for holding vinyl.
