I totally agree. Those Wenge covers are horrible. Completely out of place. Why don't I just come by and pick those up and take them away so you're not tempted to use them any longer.

Just be aware, work turning can be very addictive........ The texturing looks great. Just don't be afraid to experiment. I had some success using varied grain orientation on caps. I especially liked wenge caps cut a flatsawn orientation. Yields a unique look and avoids many of the...

Two things. First, think of the scale length as the distance between the bridge and the nut (NOT the first fret). The difference in distance from the bridge to the first fret on a 35" scale and the bridge to the first fret on a 34" scale will not be 1". That is what Pacman's picture shows...

Well, we can't really see the grain of the wood (it is a picture of a gloss finished top). I don't see the variation I'd expect from a burl. To my eye, the grain of the top wood isn't prominent enough for redwood. Nothing jumps out at me to make me suspect any kind of tint or artificial color...

Diamondwood (the material) is very dense and very hard. Matter of fact there's very little wood in it. It's a wood/resin lamination that is cured under high pressure. Even if you were able to overcome removing the existing wire markers, and cutting the fret slots, I'd be skeptical of being...

SOLD Rare Roscoe Century Signature 6 String Fretless! Price Drop.

Truely "a one-of-a-kind" Roscoe. I had the pleasure of owning it for a couple of years (matter of fact, I made the knobs for it in my workshop). It's a beautiful instrument that plays like a dream.

HMMMMMMMMMMM My first thought (strictly a knee jerk) is that the starting point has to be the neck. IMHO the Roscoe neck is where the magic happens, not the model. In a perfect world, the neck would be a salvaged Wenge wedge neck off an old Signature. A five string of course. Next choice...

Interesting idea........ The starting point for a "Franken" something is usually an incomplete or "ragged" out starting point. I'm sure they exist but I don't recall seeing such a Roscoe. I'd be up for the challenge though. ;)

Congratulations Dennis, Mahogany Body with Wenge board, that's a great combination. Looks like the neck center is Wenge also. SWEET!!;)

The volute becoming standard on the "custom" happened sometime early in 2013 (I think) or a little earlier. I ordered my custom Walnut century in the summer of 2013 and it came with a volute. Time sure flies Joe......... MOP may not be the only thing they run out of occasionally. The...

I was thinking of a two step process. The first being rouge which would definitely take the gloss off the knobs. My experience is that it will also darken. The second step (triple E) is a fine polish. It won't add shine, but will give you a very smooth feel. So not necessarily remove the...

If you have access to a set of buffing wheels, scuff them a bit with some rouge and then give the knobs a buff with some triple E. That should cure the CDO (that's OCD in alphabetical order). :)
