Who influenced you to play bass?

Dave Hope of Kansas. They were one of my favorite bands. I went into a music store in Atlanta in 1977 to buy some guitar strings for a crappy guitar I had picked up to learn how to play. Struck up a conversation with the guy at the store and it was Dave Hope from Kansas. The owner of the store...

TRADED Ray Rogers R-bass Singlecut Fiver

I had a brother to your bass. Mine was VERY similar, except it had a maple fretboard. The top on mine was Amboyna Burl. From the pictures it looks like yours has the same top. Mine also had the HazLab preamp with Barts. It was a really great playing and sounding bass. Ray builds super basses! GLWTS!

    The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

Very nice bass! I hope you like the Delano P Xtenders as much as I do. They are great pickups. I’ll bet with the double P setup that bass roars!

For Sale Clement Ryan 6 pounds!

Tom builds wonderful basses. I have a fretted and a fretted bass that he built for me. Great bass at a great price. GLWTS.

Reccommend me some "hard"-ish songs to learn

The Dregs were the real deal. I saw them play a club in the early eighties from about 10 feet from the stage. They were better live than on the recordings. Steve Morse was and is an incredible guitarist. Andy West was a killer bass player. He played a Steinberger when I saw them. Heavy and deep...

Stu HammUrge I bass wiring help-diagram or photo needed

I have an original Urge 1. I would get an ohm meter and check the continuity of the switch first. The 3 way switch went bad in my Urge and I had the replace it several years ago. If the switch is good then I would start checking the pickups. Good luck.

Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 compared to today’s favourites?

I just picked up a 6.2 from great TBer last week. I am really impressed! Very versatile and great amp!

    POD Go Bass downloads

I would also check out the bass cabinet IRs from Dr. Bonkers and Bergantino. IMO MUCH better than the standard cab offerings. I know there are a lot of other good IR sites out there, these are just two that I have used and had good success with.

    The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

Keep in mind that Maruszczyk does use truss rods that tighten when turned LEFT (counterclockwise). This is different from most basses which tighten the truss rod when you turn to the right (clockwise). I am not sure if they use the left hand truss rods on all of their basses or just some models...

    Mesa and the Classifieds Section

This is really well said and I couldn’t agree more. Having these very knowledgeable people give us their insight and opinions is to me one of the best things about TB. I have never felt they are just trying to “push product”, but I have gotten more detailed and useful info that has been really...

They all look great to me. I personally would not worry too much about the carbon rods. While nice to have, most basses still don’t have them.

    The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

I hope you are as happy with the Delano pickups as I am. My Elwood has the Delano Xtender pickups and Delano preamp. I have been really impressed with the Delano setup. Very hi-fi and clear, but I can also get a decent P bass vibe as well. It is pretty versatile.

    The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

I have had a lot of great basses (Lull, Roscoe, R Bass, MTD, Lakland, Clement, numerous Fenders and more). I just picked up a Blueburst Elwood L from another TalkBass member a couple of weeks ago and I can’t be more pleased. It is a great sounding, playing and looking bass. The quality is...

Great Albums by Rock Bands after 50?

I am long time Rush fan I agree 100%! I really respect how those guys got better and better as they got older. I am a really long time Rush fan and Clockwork Angels may be my favorite Rush album.

    Worst neck dive

The worst for me was an old small bodied Kramer 8 string bass with an aluminum neck. That thing would dive for the floor I record time!

The great Geddy Lee makes mistakes??

Several times during their mini set you could tell that Geddy was having trouble with either his in ears or the mix. I can imagine with the many different bands, musicians and all of the stage/mix changes he may very well have been having trouble hearing himself or the mix properly. In any case...

    Taylor Hawkins Tribute

Macca has played through Mesa stuff for a while now. Early in the show when I saw the Mesa bass rig upfront center stage I wondered if he would be appearing later in the show. Not sure what JPJ was playing through.

    Taylor Hawkins Tribute

Rush was absolutely great! So good to hear Geddy and Alex playing again. I miss Neil, but Omar and Dave sounded great. Fitting tribute to Taylor.

Club Clement (Part 3: Post your basses here)

Wow, Tom that is one beautiful bass! That one and your Bastogne Walnut Alto are a great pair! wavey I played # 164 when I was at Tom's a while back. It is a great bass. You are going to be amazed at how light it is. Congrats guys!:D

Club Clement (Part 3: Post your basses here)

Hi swmmojo, the walnut 4 string in wavey's e mail is mine. It is a 32" 4 string with a Hipshot D tuner. I played 5 string 34 and 35" scale basses for years and this bass will hold it's own with any of them. It's E is not floppy even when tuned down to D. The playability is unbelievable and tone...

The Official Medium Scale Bass Club

wideys, I get your point too. I have 2 32" scale basses by Tom Clement and I really like the ergonomics a lot. Comfortable for both hands. My fretless has the bridge a bit further to the back, but they both work great for me! There is a group on TB called Club Clement if you want to see more of...

Club Clement: Part 2 (post your basses here)

Hey Tom, Here is the brother to your Walnut Alto. Best bass I have ever owned and after all the basses I have had that is saying something!:D
  34. B

Club Clement: Part 2 (post your basses here)

Hi Manjushri, I would shield your pickup cavities with copper foil and make sure the shield and the bridge are grounded. I have had the same thing happen on several basses and this usually reduces the noise substantially.

Club Clement: Part 2 (post your basses here)

The Official Medium Scale Bass Club

Hi Selowitch, I just had a 32" scale built for me by Tom Clement. He is a one man shop building custom basses. GREAT bass. I have had a LOT of really great basses, but this has quickly become my number 1 bass. I like his stuff so much that I bought a 32" scale used Clement fretless that Tom...

Club Clement: Part 2 (post your basses here)

I agree with Mr.Walker's comments above. Tone is a VERY subjective thing and maybe even more so with a fretless. All I know is I have owned a LOT of high end basses and the tone on both of my Clements is to die for. I have received more comments about how great the tone is of my basses since I...
