I can say that I am one of those that prefers side jacks. Besides the benefits mentioned by NPappas, I love being able to use a solid double-sided jack and just connect up boxes without a bunch of cable mess, and it provides better spacing between foot switches, imo.

I think the key is that the Focus knob is designed to be used in conjunction with the bass knob. It's very unlikely that you'd ever want to use the focus knob that high with the bass flat, but if you crank the bass, turning up the focus can help you get a nice musical hump, without it getting...

Sounds like a broken pot, but first I would check that the knob is tightened enough to actually turn the pot. Worth trying.

Yeah, personally I'm not a fan of footswitches on pedals that are typically going to be an always on thing. That should be a toggle in my opinion, and the extra stuff should be on the footswitch. But it's a small gripe and maybe I can mod it and make the scoop and/or grit be on footswitches. A...

With the Gemini, is there any way to get the effect on just one channel, while leaving the other channel dry? I know there is the Dry Through routing option, but that seems to just duplicate the first input's signal and send it through dry, and disregards the second input. Am I missing...

High enough to be teased about it.

Looking for a fanless, small, cheap class D mono power amp

Make sure you check out the Quilter Interbass. It may be rated for lower wattage, although I bet you'd get a lot more out of those watts than you might think. It's perfectly flat with the EQ set at noon, although you will get a bit of drive if you crank the gain. Perfect for your situation, as...

    Line 6 HX Stomp

Morningstar has some good tutorials about using their controllers with the HX Stomp. This video specifically deals with the 2-way communication that you are referring to, but I recommend you check them all out, they are quite helpful...

    New Quilter bass amp!

A bit late, as I see you've already ordered an 802 (I just did too, and in the same boat, sold my 800 awhile back and really missed it), but Quilter's word on 2 ohm is that it should be totally fine. There are protections built-in and worst case scenario you might notice some distortion, in...

    Line 6 HX Effects

Good point. If that is how you use the devices, that is a big difference. I tend to use a preset/snapshot approach, rather than individual stomps, but for those that do that is an important consideration. Both devices are fantastic, and we're lucky to have such a choice!

    Line 6 HX Effects

This is what I did just recently, and so far it seems to have been a great choice. I actually find the amps/cabs a lot more useful than I expected, and the form factor is so much nicer. All the same effects are available and now that the Stomp has 8 blocks the only real limitation compared to...

Sounds like you'll want to ask on an ES-5 thread. Don't think this functionality would be related to the HX at all.

Honestly, a quality 3 band comp (preferably with respective outs) in the SA style would probably make me give up my current DIY-only dream and go back to a fully SA ecosystem.

    New Quilter bass amp!

But... It has a proper DI... It's just not an XLR connection. Sure, that's what I'd prefer too, and how I'd do it if I was the designer, but people talking about it like it's a deal breaker? Really? All the goodness that this amp provides (based off the 800) and you'd give that up because you...

    New Quilter bass amp!

The EQ controls would be one reason, although I guess one would probably have to use them first before realizing how incredible the 800's EQ is in it's simplicity. I imagine the masses would probably go for the more traditional EQ offering with no prior experience, so I suppose you're right. I...

To each their own of course, but why? Do you think an adapter will impact your tone somehow, or is it too much of a burden to carry one?

    Tool "Fear Inoculum"

Anyone who isn't listening on good headphones is doing it wrong. This album certainly won't be for everyone, not even for all Tool fans, but it is absolutely a spectacular act of cooperative creation. Looking forward to unraveling all the layers.

    Tool "Fear Inoculum"

It's not the CD you're paying for, it's the packaging. Including a video screen, speaker, and rechargeable battery. I'm not going to spend the money on that, but I respect the extra mile gone into making the physical experience stand out from the download/streaming.

    Quilter Bass Block

Yeah, I'm in agreement with Mushroo. To me it sounds like it's affecting far lower than 2000hz, although perhaps with a gentle slope. I'm guessing turning the knob further clockwise is either increasing the slope hinged on the 200hz point, or is moving the point lower towards 200hz at maximum...

    Quilter Bass Block

Anybody happen to have schematics for the tone stack in the BB800? Or at least frequency points or other information that could be helpful towards building a pedal of just the tone stack? I love my BB800 and have really found the tone controls intuitive and versatile, and would love to...

Talk me out of it: Bass Soul Food

I have to second the EHX Battalion. It's incredibly versatile and actually has a fantastic mild overdrive tone, in addition to some pretty thick and gnarly higher gain sounds. If your shop happens to have one of those in stock, give it a try in addition to those mentioned, and really play...

    Quilter Bass Block

I plug the Q Strip into the front 1/4" so it goes through the preamp on the Quilter. With the controls set at noon the Quilter is dead flat and transparent but retains the flexibility to adjust as necessary, and the limiter is there if needed/wanted. I use the XLR out on the Q Strip for DI to...

The biggest drawback to the One series pedals is the lack of ability to physically manipulate the wealth of settings within. Using the app is nice, but a lot of times a small tweak or adjustments is wanted/needed, and I would love to be able to turn a physical knob and hear the impact...

    Electro-Harmonix Nano Battalion Bass Preamp

I bought one awhile back. I love it. It's an always on mild blended overdrive for me, but I do like the high gain tones it can produce too.

Stombox Always-on Overdrive vs Preamp Always-on Drive

I was recently in a similar position, and finally discovered that the EHX Nano Battalion is my always-on overdrive of choice. With about 40% blend and moderate drive, it's fat, full, great midrange, with just a bit of hair. Obviously everybody's tone goals are different, but I was blown away...

Is this 2000W amp claim deliberately misleading?

I recommend doing some deeper research before spreading FUD. I won't go into it all, and I'm not an expert anyways, but if you actually looked into it you may find that your claims aren't very accurate. Also, being accused of a crime is not the same as being guilty of one. Behringer's...

Single Cut basses, Just a fad?

All the ones I've seen at least look a heck of a lot better than a traditional P or J. I'm curious if the balance is worth the added weight, but I would venture to guess not.

I just ordered a kingmaker for the intended purpose of an always on HPF/LPF cab sim type of thing at the end of my chain. My experience using the clean engine on the aftershock has been good, so I'm convinced it will work great for this scenario.

I've been curious about Drive Balance as well. Can anyone clarify if it is indeed controlling the placement of the EQ, and/or what the settings actually are?

    NPD: SA Aftershock

I had the Zoom B3 before buying an Aftershock as well, and the difference is night and day. I liked the B3, but I rely so much on driven tones, and the drives in the B3 just never quite did it for me. Not enough versatility and always sounded just a bit too "digital" to me too. The aftershock...
