All I can say is his sound is NASTY!! I love it... Last time I saw him in a small club (<1000) he played 2 or 3 stacks... ( they were back to a 3-piece at that time )... And all the sound was coming from the stage... I think it was the Dio tour... Amazing!!

I was just in a band doing a half step up from that C#/G#/C#/F# and had great luck with my SUB Sterling (34") with Dunlop's Heavy's 50-110.

I saw one of those Classic 400 / 8x10 stacks in tweed a number of years ago, and I thought it looked ( and sounded sweet ). Another amp that should've never been discontinued.

I've been wanting to check this one out as well, I've used the 163X in my rack for years... Right now I'm using the OptoStomp with my combo's and/or head's (non-rack)...

So I re-tubed my SVT 3 Pro with some EH tubes over the break and it sounds great... The OEM's in mine were (4) Sovtek 12AX7-WA's with a (1) Chinese 12AU7/ECC82 (yuck). I'm just curious as to how much drive/distortion everyone else's 3 Pro has. Mine growls, and breaks up but not like my SBT...

I had a J-Four got rid of it... The balance on mine was really neck-heavy... It was an ash body trans blue with the pearloid pickguard and rosewood board... Cant remember if it had EMG's or not. Plain Fender-style bridge.

I agree with the PA statement mostly. I've found that I usually have no idea what's at a given venue esp when out on the road. What people *say they have* and what you find when you actually get there are very different things. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. I also throw a bunch...

Furman + Monster + Bose = creative marketing. Dont forget some of those wonderful "brown sounds" and other creative stuff came from voltage-starved (and vice versa) amps and the like... ( I havent done it, but legend has it... ) I do think surge protection is good, as is EMI filtering...
