    Shure IEM question

The 215, 315, 425, and 535 all have the same outer geometry. Only the 846 is different.

    Daryl's House Vocal mics.

Daryl uses a Shure KSM9, and usually the lead vocal of the guest does as well. I'm sure they are more than welcome to use something that's more familiar to them though of course.

    PSM300TRA (pro) vs Sennheiser EW300 ?

Second on this. My drummer has the PSM200, I have a PSM300. They aren't even remotely on the same level. The PSM300 is basically on par with the senny G3, except there is no noise due to it being digital audio over analog RF. There is a small latency introduced there though.

    Interesting IEM device

So from first hand experience with this thing, some test equipment, and a set of very common earbuds these things drastically change the frequency response. They drastically squash the high end in the audible frequency spectrum. Whether this result is actually good or bad is up to the user...

    Shure PSM 200 IEM - Let's Talk

Actually, Shure no longer makes the PSM 200 and the PSM 300 is now their entry level system. Still comes with SE215's and a choice between plastic or metal bodypack. Supposedly the audio quality is basically equal to the PSM900. Still pretty new, and there aren't many reviews on it out there.

5 string fan fretted 36"-34" all in Wenge

The bass design makes me think of some of the weapons in the elder scrolls games. I forget what they are called. The dark weapons or whatever. Love the design.

Carbon Fibre neck rods - tips needed

I'll just add to this eye protection. A CF or fiberglass splinter in the eye is just about the worst thing ever. Oddly enough it happened with one of my old hockey goalie sticks.

Poly on headstock but finish in nitro?

Absolutely you should sand the poly under the nitro. The nitro will be adhering via a mechanical bond to the poly as opposed to melting into old lacquer and it really needs that scuffing to bond to it. Don't worry about the MOP being shiny as the nitro will fill in the the gaps you create by...

    Bind or build a neck

I just want to know why they continue to do this. Terrible practice that leaves less playing area. D.U.M.

    Where's the Status Love?

I was actually going to mention that this is definitely a good reason Status is crazy busy right now and it certainly doesn't involve slap bass. I actually just ordered a neck from Rob for a project I'm working on right now with the LED's in the fretboard. Here's my last project with a neck...

    Rapunzel- Dave Matthews

There's a few on this forum page. Bits and pieces of each are pretty much perfectly correct. You'll have to sort out what is and isn't. None are that far off themselves. http://www.dmbtabs.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=4161 LOVE stefans work on this song.

I'll second that link from the les paul forum. It works great.

    What happened to Maroon 5?

Why the band doesn't at least get a side project going with another lead singer is beyond me. Really enjoyed their first album. It had some great songs with some great bass and guitar playing.

Preamp --> Power Amp --> Cab Rigs?

I currently run an Axe-fx II with a Matrix GT1000 power amp. It's both my guitar and bass rig for different bands. All I do is put it on top of an Egnater cabinet for guitar gigs and my SWR Go-light for bass gigs.

Ampeg SVT4 Pro noise coming through power section, but only present on FX Send jack

If both the treble and master controls affect it then it's coming form the preamp. Just get some new tubes and go from there. Always the easiest solution, or at least get 1 new tube and start swapping.

My buddies little mark tube 800 definitely has a MUCH easier to turn master knob than all the others.

Definitely not normal. With the volume on that pedal at noon it is VERY loud.

    should i refinish ?

If you really want that finish then go for it. Refinishing is a TON of work though. I would almost rather cut out another body than refinish personally. It such a pain in the ass.

    Status graphite necks

I ordered a Status music man replacement for a bass I made myself. I can't comment on how it changed the tone becuase it was on there from the beginning, but the neck itself is incredible. Their workmanship is top notch. Finish, frets, nut, etc... The ONLY beef I have is that the frets are...

    future bass multi effect

You and me both!! I have the axe II and use it for both my guitar and bass needs. The problem is I only use it for fx for bass currently, because I can't get a tone I really like out of it for bass live. It definitely can be done, but I just haven't gotten there yet. I just use it on the...

Best clear finish for natural wood? Best way to apply it?

Just another suggestion. You can get a couple different brands of acrylic lacquer in rattle cans from auto parts stores. I think Deft has a good reputation. Acrylic lacquer dries much harder (and more plasticy (a word?) than nitro, but is still just as easily touched up. I wouldn't be too...

Muse: The 2nd Law due out September

Looks like it hasn't been discussed yet, but this is the official video and full version of Unsustainable off the album. Invalid Link Removed There are actually portions of that song I really like, but this combined with survival has me pretty disappointed so far. BTW, the guys who are...

GK cabs for sure. Couldn't see anything else. I enjoyed all of the show haha. I didn't want to sound too negative. A chance to see the chili pepps is always fun.

Has anyone compared wooly mammoth clones to the real thing?

I've built 2 clones. One for myself and one for a buddy. Couldn't tell much of a difference at all from the real thing except some of the extremes of knob positions. Most likely due to small manufacturing differences. Also, if you're building a clone you can include a pickup simulation...

    Flea's current distortion pedal

I just saw them at Lolla a few days ago, and the distortion at the beginning of Around the world was exactly like you describe it. Extremely thin and harsh.

Pop Music Sucks: Scientists prove it!

I actually disagree with this part. There is WAY more available for people to create experimental music these days for much cheaper. Hell you can buy multi-fx units and samples and 8 billion other things for very affordable prices. Hell I can record songs in my living room with high enough...

Morgan Nicholls (Gorillaz) live bass tone/gear help

he's generaly synth and backup stuff with Muse so they have to use much less backing material. The bass sound in the beginning of that song does sound very Musey in tone actually.

Chris Wolstenholme: The Sticky Ver. 1

Kaputsport, Is there any chance you could do a quick recording and put it on soundcloud, youtube, wherever else is easy to get onto forums? A clean signal, and then the animato in clean blend. I have an axe-fx II, which i use mainly for guitar, but I think I'm going to ditch my...

Turning a High Gloss Finish into a Matte Finish?

Both 0000 steel wool and 2000 grit will leave sanding marks and will not look right. I'll see if I can find the link for where I got the idea to try it, but here's what I reccomend. 1. A small random/orbital sander. I have a Mouse I think it's called. 2. Green AND blue scotchbrite pads. 3...

Putting a Synth Petal in my J-Bass

Harrison, This can absolutely be done. Where are you located? I'm in Chicago and if you are willing to send me the pedal and bass I would be willing to do this for parts and any other small costs. I realize you don't know me, but I have done many transactions (sales and other) on Harmony...

Two Door Cinema Club Bass Sound

There is as others have mentioned a synth bass sound in the chorus of that song for example. That sound in the second verse where's he's playing the bouncy bassline is all him I think, but the moment the chorus kicks in there's a synth with him.

Rat or Rat clone as low gain od?

I made my Rat clone initially for only high gain, but have recently started turning it on a lot more and using it for very low gain OD. I absolutely love the way it sounds. I'm also running it with a boss LS-2 for a mixture of dry signal too FWIW.

Places to get cherry red poly

Just for the record this polyurethane listed and all of the ones at Home Depot and similar are nowhere near as hard as the catalyzed 2 part automotive polyurethanes. Now it's possible that he could use a 2k clear over this for good results, but it may also not work at all.

    Preparing Warmoth body

Alder is generally pretty closed grained and I highly doubt you need to do a grain filler. You could do a sanding sealer, but if you are going fiesta red there's no need to do it. Just make sure you sand VERY well before the color coats. It just helps a ton in sanding/buffing in the end...

CNC bass body with a Status neck

Here are some decent pictures I took under some actual sunlight. They were at lunch so I didn't have too much time to get it polished up, but the front looks pretty good with some light on it. There's a picture of the back too where you can see my experiment of a kind of transparent/relic...

CNC bass body with a Status neck

That would be GREAT!! I'll be sure to get a couple more pictures up that are higher quality or PM them to you. I really love the saddles and the huge range for intonating and height adjustment. It's a great bridge. I'm just glad to see somebody doing something different. I don't know how...

CNC bass body with a Status neck

Thanks. I actually modelled everything via solidworks (pickup routes, the control holes, control cavity, etc). That picture of the 3d model is just one from a very early drawing. CNC bass body with a Status neck

Hey, This is actually my first post on TB, but I recently built my first bass and I figured I share it here. I am first and foremost a guitar player, but I wanted a really versatile bass for recording and as it turns out I will actually be playing bass in one of my friends' bands. So...
