EB Slinky Flatwounds. Not cheap, but they have the advantage (totally subjective!) on sounding equally great both when brand new & zingy and when old, broken in and "warmer". I would normally replace strings when they get "thuddy" and lose presence, but these ones sound so great to me even then.

Thanks! It's a Sterling Stingray 5, satin mahogany finish. Got it for less than 300€ with a f...ed up preamp (previous owner wanted to mod it by adding a coil switch and ended up messing it up). I replaced that with a Seymour Duncan preamp (and pickup) which did cost me more than the bass LOL...

It seems to track really well. Half step down is what I use it for. Two steps down on the open low B still sounded great on a quick test... didn't try below that, didn't care for the octave settings.

As far as I'm concerned, my ideal bass would have neither a tone knob or a volume knob. I've always had both maxed out and never, never, never needed to use different "settings". (Passive P bass)

Meanwhile, in Italy ... ...that's for a 5-string set. And it's even lower than a month ago (it reached 72€).

Boss MD-500. All the mod effects needed and then some. I would usually have all the other pedals into the MD-500 FX loop, only to be able to individually set up every modulation as "pre" or "post" loop.
