Thanks Chuck! As it turns out I sold two Fenders and my Les Paul so I may end up keeping the 5er. I got my eye on that TR-4 though. It’s a lovely bass. I get a wonderful warm buttery tone out of mine with the Nootka Cedar, I would love to hear what the swamp ash sounds with the same configuration!

I’m definitely considering another TR-4. The one in Austin is lovely. I was also thinking of having one made in the same whiteburst finish as this one

I’m not selling my membership! My main bass is a TR4. I’m just not much of a 5 string player and it’s a waste to see it just sit there.

Hey guys, I’m looking to purchase a home in the near future so it’s time to thin the herd. I figured I would give this group priority before posting an ad on reverb. Looking to sell my CP Thornton 5 string. Purchased new for $2800, very little played. Never gigged, only home use still in mint...

@Nightman i was reading up this morning on sort of the “history” of fretless and the article menchoned that when Jaco pulled his frets, he coated the neck in epoxy which gave it a certain tone especially in the higher register. I don’t recall seeing any of his basses look to have a coated neck...

Yes I do. One of my favorite fretless songs is “all American alien boy” because the groove doesn’t sound fretless. I’ve listened to players like Jason Everett and it’s just not my cup of tea. So the neck is extremely straightforward. Simply remove the strings from the headstock, unbolt the neck...

I almost passed on the fretless neck, but I decided to get it and I installed it this morning for kicks. The tone that comes out of this bass without frets is absolutely crazy. It’s staying this way! I had an old fender fretless I didn’t care for but for some reason with this bass-it’s a blast...

So here she is! I also posted pics of that fretless neck because, yes, I got that too! It was a wonderful visit. I brought up some locally made wine and his wife made some scallops in the half shell. @Nightman as far as development goes, he had some absolutely beautiful guitars and basses...

    (Almost) NBD! Peavey Cirrus 6

i sent in what I felt was a good offer on eBay and scored a Peavey Cirrus 6. According to the description the bass is older, but still brand new as it was acquired from a liquidation of a store that went out of business. It was on the rack, but never sold and barely ever played. I looked at...

6 string bass bridges-any experience with Kahler???

I’m well aware of this. But as I stated I wasn’t comfortable with the settings being maxed out and was wondering if anyone had experience with a different bridge having more play. I never said they were bad bridges, or that I wasn’t replacing them or that they couldn’t intonate.

6 string bass bridges-any experience with Kahler???

I probably should have elaborated. I’m not replacing the bridges on any of my basses, I’m looking to build one

6 string bass bridges-any experience with Kahler???

i currently own 2 5-strings and one six string that have hipshot bridges. I noticed on all of them the b-saddle is maxed out (as far back as possible) and on the six the c is about as far forward as possible. While it’s a fantastic bridge it seems there isn’t much room for adjustment on the b...

Official Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI Club

Hi guys! I got my Squier Bass VI yesterday. I want to love it but to be honest it plays like poopie and needs some love...I’m ordering heavier strings but she’s got intonation and string buzz issues. I want to replace the bridge but I saw that staytrem won’t sell their bridges in the US anymore...

Godin A4 electronics issue - any help appreciated!

Yeah I thought it was weird how a brand new bass had a dead battery. It definitely sounded like something was shorted out or not wired quite right inside this thing

Godin A4 electronics issue - any help appreciated!

I’m aware this is an older thread but figured I would add to anyone looking into this issue further. I just purchased an A4 Fretted yesterday. I was totally in the dark about how the electronics worked on this bass, and was somewhat disheartened they didn’t include some sort of owners manual to...

Any vintage Fender Coronado players out there?

I’ve always thought the coronado’s were really cool guitars/basses. I’ve seen some cool vintage ones on reverb. Anyone have one on here? Thoughts?

I have a ‘79 Fender Bassman Ten. That is all lol! I have a Line 6 POD that has a few bass effects in case I want a Motörhead overdriven effect but rarely use it. When the neighbors are home I use my fender rumble amp. I’m still in the process of learning so I plug my iPad into the auxiliary...

NBD! MIM Fender PJ Deluxe Special

NBD! MIM Fender PJ Deluxe Special

So I noticed one of these at a local guitar center and I really noticed the color. Fast forward a few months I saw one of these at another guitar center, but played it and was blown away at how comfortable this bass was. I have many different kinds of basses but this one just spoke to me...

It really depends on you. Sometimes old dead strings sound great for a vintage sound. If you like a really bright string sound then change them when they start to sound old like a guitar. They will last a while so I would say if you’re a neat freak about your basses-change them when your...
