Are P Basses better than J Basses?

Either is good, except for slavic contemporary which really is suited by neither.

Although I tend to like Precisions I also love my Geddy. So for me it would depend on the type of music and venue.

If you directly ask to me, i would say that jazz bass is absolutely better.

I agree 100% I've come up with some hot mods for the Jazz... First, you put a Precision Bass neck on it, and then you put a Precision Bass body on it... Then all you need is a new pickup and you'll have one Kick ass Jazz Bass! Lol

I voted yes, simply because there was no: Depends what you prefer choice. Also voted yes because, ive 4 precisions, & no jazzes. BUT, I've played countless jazz basses (fender, squier, copies, etc) & TBH, most of them felt, played & sounded nice. Is it my tone? No. But that's not the reason i could never own one. I jut can't get used to the offset body, cause 2 of my precision basses have the slim jazz bass neck.

EDIT: I've pondered over a few days redesigning the jazz bass to suit my needs. Guess what...It becomes a precision bass. Body shape & all. So I'm safe to say, i'll never own a Jazz, simply because i'm a precision

It depends on the player. P basses for trolls who need Precision, and J basses are best for Jazz.
