It is not that we don't SEE your point of view; rather, that we don't AGREE with your point of view. The main reason I think dude was a dbag is because of his lack of courtesy in the situation.Like I said I would've atleast asked the only other guy on that aisle standing beside the bass, that was plugged in,amp still on,having more than likely saw the guy place the bass against the amp and get up and take two step on a dead end aisle with him at the end of it,having heard him playing and said hey you playing that or at least something.
Then after I informed the guy that I was playing is when he went into full dbag mode.Cause when he picked it up I told the guy.I was using that.Thats why its still plugged and I was about to try this other bass.
Told the sales guy the same thing.Store manager and sales guy both see my point of view about it.So much so that they apologized for dude being so inconsiderate of other customers.
I don't see how some of you can't see my point of view. Its just plain rude given the circumstances to walk up to something someone is using and try to take it.
5 feet is more than a couple of steps.People who disagree with you are probably the same people who thought it was OK to keep a second amplifier head that was accidentally shipped to a member a while back by one of the big box online stores.
No matter how many times people keep saying it, you didn't WALK OFF, you took a couple of steps away to get a another bass to try. Under their twisted logic, you could never compare basses because anything that isn't in your hands is fair game for anyone else to take. I think the fact that the store manager apologized makes it clear how they expect people to conduct themselves.
Not really--depends on your legs.5 feet is more than a couple of steps.
"You grab me, or anything I am holding at anytime, in a public place, you are dealing with the cops. End of discussion. Learn how to act in public or stay home."
Hahhahaha! Now this is funny! You've got to be kidding?
I was referring to this quote, op didn't take it out of his hands, he also grabbed the bass, "dbag" subsequently released it. I also don't believe op was acting in an effort to intimidate, but to purchase.Anyone takes something out of your hands in an effort to intimidate you? That's assault, a crime. You take something out of my hands in a store, I will not so politely remind you that you committed assault. Continue to make an issue of it and you can explain to the police why you think you are allowed to do that.
LOL - I think you're right. In fact I bet the OP feels a lot like he's been swimming up stream since he started this thread.

No OP doesn't feel like he is swimming up hill on this. I feel that I did the correct thing and as I've stated before I'd do it again.
I never thought this thread would be on going though. Who knew my personal experience would be thread of the week apparently.
DONE!This thread delivers all of the goods. ...,, there's my latest contribution to this entertaining utter waste of time. Goal: 20 more pages before Friday. Ready, BEGIN!
This may be relevant, here. This might be a good place to drop an apparently true story. Keith Moon and Viv Stanshall (of the Bonzos) used to be drinking buddies and confederate pranksters, and this was one of their exploits: Viv went into a tailor's shop on Savile Row and asked to see a pair of trousers. While he was examining the item Keith came in and demanded to try on the same. This led to a violent quarrel and a tug of war, wherein the trousers split into two legs. The poor tailor was exasperated, but right on cue another customer entered - a one-legged actor whom Viv and Keith had hired for the denouement: "Why, you have just the thing I've been looking for. I'll take both of those!"
