So @2many what do I need to do about this gap? Any thoughts?
I’ve got no clue. Not in my knowledge database! Looks like mis-matched parts for sure. Take it in and have it set up right.

Yes I did. I tried both and really liked the sound of those MM style pickups. They were very punchy, the notes seemed solid, had quite a bit of bite with a hot output. The tone reminded me a bit of a more beefy Sterling Ray 34 which makes sense due to the dual pickups. I can't remember exactly what else I tried that day but the Dean Edge 3 in Silverburst really stood out to me. I wish I could remember what else I tried that day. Sorry.

I had originally planned on getting the Purple Burst and Green Burst, but after blowing quite a bit of cash on some Genz Benz cabs, GK cabs and a couple of G&L basses, I still have not been able to buy them. That's ok as I am extremely happy with the G&L's although I still would like to get at least one Dean Edge 3 as it really sounds good and looks sharp in person.
There’s a really nice EDGE 3 Greenburst in the TB classified right now

I already have both a Silverburst and a Greenburst Edge 3, but thank you. Also I believe the one you might be referring to the seller is asking more for it used than what you can actually buy it for brand new. I believe I got mine for less than $360 new with warranty while the one I am thinking about on the Classifieds was almost $500 used with a case. o_O

$470 with case and shipping included.
Yours was definitely a great price.

Looks like green burst has been discontinued as only the Purple Metallic Burst is listed?

Especially after scoring a $40 Peavey Millennium Just a month before that. My wife had made me promise to stop buying guitars and basses (the 10A was #27) but I mean... how could I not?

You are correct. It is the EAB. I got it for $100 right before my first tour. I wanted to make sure I had one in case any acoustic appearances popped up. That thing has been from one coast to another in a van with no case almost entirely unscathed. I play it almost every day.

Welcome!

View attachment 3556730 My Jeff Berlin. Thing is a beast and surprisingly versatile. Anybody know why Jeff's basses have such a wide pickup spacing? He seems to only use the bridge pickup yet every bass he has played since the 80s has the two pickups in the same positions. Figured there must be a reason for it.
I see that you or a PO put a BABICZ bridge on this?

Sorry for the confusion, when I said "one of Dean's best headstocks" I meant Dean Zelinski's trademark v headstocks. A few post back talkbass member Switched showed off his Dean famous V headstocks so I had to brag too. The red barchetta I pictured was his top model back then. Every box was checked when it was ordered even the matching flame maple headstock was a option.
What's the deal with the nut on that guitar? Some kind of adjustment?

NBD and Number please!

I found this pristine, never gigged, never really played early Dean Jeff Berlin (European Custom) in Transparent Amber. I think someone bought it, put it in a case, and never played it. The satin finish on the neck is still satin (no gloss from wear), the pickups have no "smoothing" from finger wear, all of the hardware has a patina and the finish is a flawless gloss. I've seen more worn looking basses hanging new on the rack at GC! It does have one "incorrect" knob - perhaps the original fell off and was lost, and was replaced with whatever fit on the post, idk.

The serial number is 94693. The headstock has the *very* slight tilt back, and the tuners are offset. The "Dean" logo is squarely between the tuners, so I'm guessing this is somewhere between '99 and '01. Can any experts confirm?

@Darth_Linux , while I was 'away' I had passed along some information through @TheBassmaster27 (who did a great job keeping things going). However, I did not get to compliment you on this very fine looking Jeff Berlin signature bass. It is like it was in a time capsule. Simply gorgeous. I think @Ronen , who also has one, would agree.

Hey all! I have just stumbled across a Dean Hollywood Z bass at a local guitar shop and I really wanna buy it, but I haven’t been able to find ANY specs info online anywhere, does anyone know anything about it??

I’m already set on buying it and replacing the pickups with a PJ set of Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders, but I just wanna know what the stock specs are for my own gear geek knowledge...
Just curious if you ever pulled the trigger on this?
