Man, I wish my NG2 4 string would come in. I am chomping at the bit to give it a try. My 2nd bass in my band that tunes to CFBbEb is a 34" scale, and I can't stand that. Considering the improvement in using a 35" scale bass, I can't wait to see how the extended scale of the NG2 works out.

I have a bunch of them coming in but I will be able to only inspect them and send them right back out. At least I will get to see the new 4-strings.
In a bass I prefer either long scale 35+ or short scale like the Hofner. Not too keen on 34" basses.

Yeah, I preordered mine through Bass San Diego back last December. I guess the good thing is if yours are coming soon, hopefully theirs are too. Excited about my Darkglass amp you preordered for me too!

Ok, answering my own question
On my SJ5XXX, the Volume and 4-way rotary switch are 1/4" posts, the bass knob appears to be a 6 mm post, but it has an adapter sleeve on it, so it is also a 1/4" post/knob. I assume SJs and SPs are the same?

Do these work on my SJ5XXX, from the photos they appear to have set screws?

Yes, they have set screws and he sends enough hollow inserts of various sizes if you aren't sure if the shaft diameters. Didn't need any of the inserts for my NG2, they fit perfectly.

I like your choice of going with the chrome hardware. I think black would have looked cool as well, but given the overall dark tonality of the bass, the chrome adds some nice sparkle at the ends.

Thanks - I agree - I was also trying to keep the 'modern classic' theme going too

Love that look as well. Was thinking about putting black clovers or black lolli's on mine if I do end up keeping it. The Y keys look better on non-fender body types in my opinion.

I love that one of my favorite bassists in one of my favorite bands is out there playing it. Playing with Epica (opening, supporting, whatever) is on my music bucket list.

Interestingly enough, given the Dingwall diversity and so many beautiful but very different basses in this thread, I couldn't choose a bass even if I were given any Dingwall I would want! That is kinda crazy

Yeah. Placing an order is a little intimidating. There's lots of options, and really, not any of them are "bad", just "different". I'm pretty set with my build, though I'm sure I'll have to end up back in line again to find the purple one I want

I think prior to ordering a custom bass, be it any manufacturer, I think it is important to become versed in the features you are looking at including. For my custom Alembic, I went through 3 used Alembics to determine exactly what I wanted in my custom. Alembic, like Dingwall, has a ton of options to consider. Mine was completed back in 2003 and I'm still more than satisfied and wouldn't change a thing on it.

On a side note, I jammed with some friends last night with my new NG-2. It sounded great and was very comfortable to play. I'm still getting used to the fanned frets in the upper register but other than that, it was really fun to play.
