This is very sad. I hope that guy loses the weight he needs to lose. He needs to get on a treadmill when he can. I've always been a firm believer that excercise is the key to maintaining a healthy body. I feel thankful that I am not fat. (my doctor said that I have a slim-none chance of becoming obese later in life. :p )

Good luck, fat man, if yo're religious, may God be with you.

thats kind of what i was saying in my post, it seems by at least 600, he (or someone) would have begun to think about if he was overweight. but like Eric said, i have never been in a situation where i would have to decide if i have a problem (maybe i'm still in denile about something! :D ). but then Willplay4food mentioned the medicare thing, so i guess thats a logical answer. but its too bad that the article didn't mention if he had tried to lose weight before, maybe i didn't read it. but according to the article (which may be a little biased (idk)) it said how he liked pizza and burritos, and it sounded like he had never really tried to lose weight. but like brad johnson says, i could be wrong. maybe people have been picking on him so much, that he just gave up even trying to reach a healthy weight...thats easily believable for me, having a slightly above normal BMI(by about two points, but my doctor said thats alright for a kid who played 4 years of football). well like eric said in the end, at least he's doing something about it now...

no disrespect to either side of the argument...

If we could get back on point please:

I have no problem with "fat" people. I have a problem with the fact that this guy abused himself, and now society has to make up for it.


Also, jon burnet; i rise above your petty deconstruction of my spelling and grammar. If you were really any good at it, there are several other typos in that sentence. Dont make me wheel out my English degree on you now, m'kay?

STOP CARING. this guy suffers more every day than you could ever imagine. from dipsticks like you with your uber opinions to the torture he imposes on himself becasue his self image is in the crapper.

these things become a viscious cycle. you eat then get depressed becasue ur fat, then eat becasue ur depressed ect.

i am sure in your infinate wisdom there are "true" problems that could use the help of ur gigantic brain.

I don't know what the heck is the definition of emo, silly teenage style crap probably, I have a visual style just like his and don't go around showing off repulse for those who are mentally or/and physically diseased (which that guy is obvioulsy)
So what would be your solution to ending this kind of terminal situations anyway, put him in a concentration camp along with addicts, hunger victims, aids carriers and others in general??

This is NOT going to help anyone, especially the poor schlub who's in the situation... IMHO, this mindset is pretty F'd up...

Yay, he's gonna die,, lets all sit around & let it happen,,, better yet, lets sit around & attack the emo kid who's trying to motivate people to help themselves... & then we can beat some kid up, too...

That's basically what I was saying, and now I feel like I've been ostracized, potentially.

No one questions a families' motives when they dole out the tough love on a family member strung out on crack, why the hell should "morbid obesity" be any different?

Whether it's a mental problem or a physical dependency brought on my another disorder, someone should have stepped in 500 lbs ago. Which is where my comment about it possibly being a they tried/ he retaliated type of situation. You never know. Lends itself well to the cyclic eat because you're depressed and you're depressed because you eat thing.

If someone had stepped in when the kid was 90 lbs going into kindergarten, maybe things may have turned out waay different.

Again, just speculation here, I pass no judgement on this person other than if he was in the capacity to make change, and chose not to, don't look for pity now.

Be proactive. Seems that's what the man is doing. Wish him well is about all I can do. I have my own issues to contend with. This thread has so devolved it's way past the point of salvage.

Why the hell is it, if a kid wants to go out & save the rain forest, or save the whales, or save the puppies or whatever,,, everyone praises them....

BUT, if you dare try to help a human being, were going to rip your head off & **** down your neck.
