My Wife Poses the Ultimate Question

So after several purchases over the past 18 months, my wife finally said those words that we all really dread, "Do you REALLY NEED another bass?" Now I know this is a running joke for those of us with chronic GAS, but now I actually have to defend myself with a foolproof response (I am in the process of ordering a custom made J-Bass). I am seeking the ultimate stone cold, show stopping, mic drop answer to this question. I like creativity and thoughtfulness with perhaps a sense of humor.

SOOOOOO TBers, lets have it
an answer has nothing to do with it..if you are in a situation where you have to ask permission..that's your fault..

You know there's a war on, right? People dying left and right, then that massive earthquake that just shook the planet, trees falling over and the stock market crashing all around your feet, stockbrokers jumping from the high windows onto the chaos, the anarchy below, the opening of the very pit of Hell awakening the Evil One from his eons-old slumber, baby, you know I love you and am so glad I got to spend this little bit of time on Earth with you can I have that bass?

I honestly have to side with my wife now on this situation (with me). I admit that I have way too many basses and gear for the two bit pathetic amateur hack of a player that I am. IMO, the only people with a foolproof response would be true professional bass players that actually earn their living from playing bass. That of which I will never be. :( or, those with unlimited funds that would buy a new bass rather than change the strings on the one they have!

At least it's not meth, right?
Luckily my wife is a musician as well, she plays cello. She has bows that cost more than any bass I currently own lol. So, when I said I wanted a pair of Mayones, she looked at them, asked a question or two about them and said ok, cool. So now I am about to order a 4 and a 5

Luckily, I get to answer with "do you NEED another sewing machine? I mean, don't they all just do the same thing? Can you use more than one at a time?" Show stopping mic drop. We both have our hobbies, and hey, at least she knows where I am at night! Plus I built her a kick ass sewing table.

BECAUSE IM THE MAN OF THE HOUSE AND WHAT I SAYS GOES!!!!

Now after you tell your friends this bull:poop: story of how you stood up to her...

Tell her in terms that she would under stand...Honey this new custom made jazz bass will be the same color of your eyes which is my favorite color in the world by the way. So whenever I am out on a gig I will be thinking of you and how much I love you. The neck will remind me of how soft you feel in my arms!

Just make sure that you do order the bass in the color of her eyes or else you're screwed bro:cool:

how many shoes do you need

My wife knows next to nothing about music gear and the topic bores her to death. Therefore, our solution is to have different budget categories for each of us that roll over each month. She has subcategories for things like beauty (nails, hair, cosmetics, etc.) and I have subcategories for clothes, lunches out, and music gear. This way, I can decide what music gear to buy and as long as there is enough money in that subcategory, I don't need to discuss it with my wife beforehand. This method has been a real marriage-enhancer.

After a dramatic pause say "One. Well... 'need' ... actually none."

Turn around and go back to whatever you were doing when you were so rudely interrupted.

Honesty stops bullies in their tracks.

After dropping coin for her quilting machine last year (capable of full king sized quilts), all I have to do is give my own version of "the look" if she even comes close to hinting about a question of my "needs."
So what's this quilting machine? My wife is into quilting with stacks and stacks of fabric. She's mentioned something about a fancy sewing machine once or twice but it kinda went in one ear and out the other. Hum. How much are they? Maybe I should be encouraging so me getting yet another bass or guitar will only seem fair...
