Jeebus, that man (and the rest of the band) had style for days. But I'm pretty sure my wife would refuse to go with me to the grocery store if I were dressed like that...which is a shame.
Yep. Finally got a chance to listen, and I had to buy. I also bought a shirt, because I'm a total sucker for that font.
If anything, if you were to wear it out, it looks to be breathable enough for Texas summer (minus the capey drapey thing)!
Hehehe, I seriously doubt that fabric is breathable, but it does look to be designed with ventilation in mind. And hey, I'd suffer to be able to sport the capey-drapey thing.
@bassboysam There are parts of Inclination that remind me of the parts of New Dawn Fades that are used in the movie Heat when (IIRC) Pacino's character is driving after De Niro's character on the highway. Was that intentional? For reference, go to 00:46 here:

The upcoming week is the final week of my degree. I'll have time to play again! I'm looking to be more productive in my practice time - recommendations? I'm thinking of just learning some classic hard rock/heavy metal to get my chops and endurance back up. Nothing too difficult, but not necessarily just jamming on root notes or something. Here are some of the bands I'm thinking, and I may try to learn rhythm guitar parts as well and record just because. What are all of your thoughts on specific songs from these - and similar - bands?

Judas Priest
Dio
Ozzy
Black Sabbath (though not the tough stuff, I'll need practice to get to Geezer level!)
AC/DC
Also, if you have any tips or resources for just improving in general, I'm really trying to be a better, more focused player in general. I'm going to try and use the schedule and focus that I've had to put into my studies that past 1.5 years into some serious work on bass and being more active.

Oh MAN do you have some good taste in music my friend…
Will weigh in here bc I have tried to play most of those…
Was playing Rapid Fire earlier this week…Forgot how great that primary riff pattern sounds…Those first couple of songs on British Steel are a lot of fun and not terribly difficult…Hill doesn’t seem to do anything too complicated - it’s a lot of gallop type stuff with and occasional shift up and down the neck…
Rainbow & Holy Diver are my favorite Dio songs (both to listen to and to play)…I feel like that album has a very similar feeling to Ozzy’s first two (Blizzard and Diary I mean)…Sabbath connection a side, I just feel like their music at that time was in a similar head space in terms of structure…
Haven’t played AC/DC in a while, but if you need something to get you going-The entire album of Back in Black is all of 42 minutes and a lot of fun to jam along to…The back side of the album isn’t as much fun to play IMO, but good for kicking the rust off if you haven’t played in a while bc it takes a bit of patience on timing on a few songs (I used to play that album on Sunday mornings before I switched to playing Sabbath <—-I feel like it’s apt that I play Black Sabbath on my first practice every week bc it’s like listening to the birth of heavy Metal (God bless those guys man)…
For weekly Sabbath I like to go Black Sabbath/The Wizard/Wasp/Behind The Wall Of Sleep/N.I.B. And then switch over to War Pigs/Luke’s Wall/Paranoid/Iron Man and then Sweet Leaf and Children of the Grave…I usually play one or two other songs to make the hour of practice, but playing that in that order is a lot of fun bc you can almost hear the lights coming on for them in terms of the kind of music they wanted to make (the style progression is just enjoyable to listen to IMO)…
For Maiden-I usually just put on Somewhere Back In Time and try to play along…As much as I like Maiden that album has most of their hits on it so it usually scratches that itch for me…
Playing classic Metal two days a week I feel like is just good for my overall constitution…
I usually migrate to AIC, White Zombie, Pantera, and Metallica as the week goes on, but I feel like 80s Metal isn’t quite as impossible to play as some later Metal…
(And speaking of later Metal)…Oh Man, I tried some Pantera again this week…
Admittedly I can tell I’m better than I was the last few times I tried to play that, but good GRIEF some of those songs are difficult…(I butchered a few tabs and tried to jam along to Far Beyond Driven (their best album IMO-And probably my favorite lyric about um…”You and your college dream”
I know Rex turned down a full ride jazz scholarship to UNT so he wasn’t exactly a slouch musician even as a teenager, but some of the stuff he does is just WAAAAY over what I’m capable of doing at the moment…
Nice to have goals to aspire to I guess, but Jeebus those guys wrote some epic riffs…

Honestly, I don't listen to many of them as much as I should, but seeing as my son's grown up a bit and is now recognizing lyrics in songs it's limited what I can listen to when we're playing LEGOs. (Which is what most of my free time has been this summer. Kids loves LEGOs, and I'm not going to dissuade him.) These lyrics are all pretty clean, whereas with the heavier stuff he started asking "What's "buck" mean?" - thankfully he didn't quite hear it right! And he loves to listen to this music with me - he regularly requests "Ozzy's Boneyard" on satellite radio. So we've listened to TONS of classic hard rock and heavy metal lately! Usually, I'm a fan of the heavier, faster stuff, but I also realize I've got to ease back in to this, and want to maybe learn a few things along the way. Especially since I ALSO want to play more guitar too, just for fun.
I regularly warm up and practice with the main riff to NIB - my son actually recognizes that when it comes on the radio! War Pigs is a life-time goal! And I NEED to learn more Maiden - The Trooper is going to happen. I learned most of it a few years ago, but I think everything but the main riff is gone. Never tried Dio or Priest, but they seem relatively simple for the most part. AC/DC I figure should be a no-brainer, but fun nonetheless.

I'll throw Darkglass into the ring. You can get a used Mirotubes 900 V1 for about the price range you are looking. Can do great cleans, old-school SVT sounds, and modern grind; can do 2 ohms; and is light. I dig the Orange Terror's, but I know they end up in repair shops fairly often.

No this was the first time since I've had the Matamp that I did not use it. I recorded with my Ampeg B25B and its matching 2x15, a low passed DI was also blended in slightly. I used a P on all the tracks except Inclination (MIM Geddy Lee J). for dirt I used my Barber LTD and a Dunwich Wizard for fuzz. I think we added some extra drive in parts using an Ampeg VST of some kind as the amp was maybe set a little too clean during recording.
the synths were all straight DI. we didn't have time to record them in the studio so i recorded those at home with a cheap ART DI.

I totally get where you’re coming from on trying to find age appropriate music…I don’t have kids, but I get what you mean…Ironically one of the reasons I got into Metallica was because they didn’t have a lot of swearing, Satanic lyrics or imagery and they could outplay every one musically…
I don’t think any of their first five albums really have any swear words aside from the very end of Damage Inc where he drops an f- bomb on the way out (you can barely hear it)…Pardon the digression-I was raised in a conservative “Christian” upbringing so certain things I had to be careful listening to especially if I thought my Mom was listening in the other room…One of my favorite albums ever is Astro Creep 2000 by White Zombie and I had to hide it from my Mom bc of its lyrical content…Pretty sure she wouldn’t have cared as much about Supercharger Heaven where he’s chanting “Devil Man”, but the moaning at the beginning of More Human Than Human would probably have led to confiscation of one of my favorite albums ever…As a side note-Thunderkiss 65 is my warm up song now so that band was very much a gateway drug for me (most of their stuff isn’t all that difficult to play aside from Black Sunshine (something about that riff pattern is hard for for my fretting hand)…
Also (to clarify)-Lol-When I said I play those Black Sabbath songs-I mean I TRY to play them, but I was definitely not insinuating that I can play them well…I butcher said set list I listed…
As for Judas Priest…They have a lot of good songs…Lyrics aren’t too dark or disturbing I might add…And lol-Iron Maiden might help him when he gets to English class (see: Rime Of The Ancient Mariner)…
