The kicker is the US is by far the top petroleum producer in the world, almost twice as much annually as the next highest producer. Peru is ranked 41st so I’d expect some costly importing there.
We haven’t changed our consumption noticeably in the last year, but we have significantly changed our production levels, consequently prices went up. How far they’ll go, who knows, it all comes down to politics here which we can’t discuss. So instead of buying that next bass I guess I’ll just throw money in the gas tank instead. Thankfully I’m retired so I don’t really have to drive a lot and I do have a couple of decent gas sippers for when I do. I do feel for the players that have to schlep a lot of gear in a gas guzzling van and get peanuts for the gig.
It's my fault. I will drag you all down with me.![]()

Jeff Beck, Neil Young and Nels Cline are my favorite electric guitar players - hands down. (...needless to say I like Jimi also...)
OK, this is from that same jam gig I posted a song from yesterday. I'm not really a blues bassist (as anyone who is a real blues artist will tell you). I used to do fill ins for the house bassist who traveled a lot for his job. I really like this drummer, hard hitter which shows my rock roots. I think I overplayed just a tad bit here. You need a lot of restraint to be a good blues player and I don't have it sometimes. It's like walking a tightrope, you can't be boring and you need to push but you can't be obtrusive either, which I have been known to be.
This is with the same equipment obviously, TF Fender fretless, SVT head and Ampeg 410 cab
Mr Beck gettin' it on with the ladies -
Tal.That bass player (always forget her name) consistently impresses me. Great tone and lines.
That never surprises me. Something about music/musicians being phenoms young isn't that unusual historically. Visual artists usually need decades to 'mature' - where as musicians can blow your mind as kids. I grew up with a friend who was a phenomenal musician. Mostly an awesome drummer, but he could pick up any instrument and quickly master it. Jaco was like that - gifted.
We've had nights with two bass-players. I let the other bass player start/progress until I determine their sonic involvement and counter-point it. They play low - I play high, they play roots - I play melodic etc... so fun!
Mine too, but prefer the later 50s Pbass body with contoured edges.
No, he probably brings them into the garage, shows them his cars, gives them a cup of tea, and then drives them home in a very fast, very loud car. Then the horrified parents never let the kid go anywhere near Mr. Beck's house.
I have forgotten who was interested in my VP. It's nine pounds even. I just weighed it.
It is a black one, built in 2017. I looked it up to see exactly when, but I don't remember now. August 2017, I believe, but that might be wrong.
Jeff Beck is as much a car guy as Billy Gibbons. For a large portion of the 80s, he hated the music being made so instead of recording, he went back to working on cars.

but then again... there's creative, inspired mayhem -

All is good, no need to delete. Politics seem to be a fact of life these days, I just wish it weren’t so.I shouldn't have put that in, if I were back home, I'd be complaining too and probably driving a lot less, I own two V8 cars. In fact I'm going to delete it.
Yes, they weigh more or less than white or burst VPs.Do black VPs weigh more or less than white VPs and burst VPs?
