What's your one true "Forever Bass"?

Just this year I got a G and L
P bass that’s great.

I have 2 string basses that I love also, but my forever bass is a
Fender Jazz bass.
It’s old, been stripped, had the pickups rewound, and had a Hipshot put on, but it’s my baby.

After forty years of buying, selling and trading, I’ve concluded that I’m incapable of owning a “forever” instrument. I wish I were capable of committing to one as it would save me a lot of money.

My wife keeps reminding me that I have too many basses. I keep reminding my wife that I have an illness (GAS). She's very understanding. I'm quite attached to them all. The last bass sale I made, my beloved black Geddy Wal Mk1, created separation anxiety that lasts to this day (oh, the regret lol). As such, I'm very unlikely to part with any of my other basses.

First of all, I think that "Holy Grail" bass describes it better. That said, mine is the Jack Casady Goldtop signature bass.

My keeper is my 98 (?) Jerry Jones Longhorn. I sold it new (I was a dealer), and got it traded back. I've played hundreds of gigs with it.
However, I've got 2 others I'll never sell either. An 82 Squier Precision that was given to me by my best friend since childhood.
A Supro Huntington I, pre-general availability, that I got as an endorsement deal. Its the one that actually gets played the most these days.

This one - my honeyburst Stingray 5HH. I've owned a lot of basses since getting it, and still have some of them, but so far nothing I've played has made me even consider demoting my Stingray.

Yet another thread reminding me I really need to take pictures of my basses.

mines a Yamaha TBRX 604FM. Every time I have GAS it gives me pause. It doesn’t stick but the Yamaha is never the one losing out in the rotation.

A custom made Knuckle. Lefty, 5-string, passive, mahogany body, maple sandwich (with graphite) neck, 36 inch scale (might be 36.5"), P/J both Nordies. As Rick said, "Never gonna give you up...."

The original question here assumes one is capable of a monogamous player/instrument relationship. I'm afraid I'm a life long polygamist in that department. Learning how to make basses that consistently are just what I like to play hasn't helped this at all.

My 2011 MIA Fender Jazz Deluxe. I ended up removing the preamp the original N3 pickups. I set it up passively with Lindy Fralin Pickups, over wound 8% to get more mids and more lows. I have it wired with a separate tone and volume control for each pickup. I also swapped the original black pickguard for a pearl white one. I have used it for gigs at casinos and outdoor festivals and for recording music for several television shows (American Pickers on The History Channel, The DEED on CNBC, The Aquarium and The Zoo on Animal Planet) and several others.

The bass also has sentimental value because it was purchased new as a gift from my wife for Valentine's Day 2012.
