Okay I'm certainly guilty of the second one to a degree. I have a flipphone with an outside and main screen, and a pic of my bass is the background for both of them....sad really.

when your frontman breaks a string, you view it as a chance to jam, and immediately come up with something funky that the rest of the band has to (but loves to) follow

I have to take issue with this one. Any bass player should be immidiately siezed with the desire to jump up and scream...

"It's not the same thing at all! They're not even tuned to the same flipping intervals!!"

Being a bassist with a Cellist brother I was very annoyed with that scene. Of course the writers assumed, correctly as it turns out, that most people can't really tell the difference between a bass and a cello anyway.

Anyway I'm probably overreacting, but someone had to say it.

I'm not sure what the string notes are anymore, but it is one more note between each string than bass. A couple of times I retuned my brothers cello to bass intervals and had some fun playing bass lines on it.

Did I mention it was an $8k instrument (the low end of professional quality cellos) I never told him...
